So you're not taking the usual moral stance to scamming? But more you don't want to be reminded of the real world? I don't see how that is possible not for this game at least, human world and a game based on humans (clones of humans with the original human consciousness).

We all play a role in a game with our characters (doesn't mean you have to use OOC chat for instance).

Problem is some people role play the character as an extension of themselves and then expect everyone to conform to RL values/ideals.

Here's my contribution to that learning curve for newbies:

"When in any trade hub, and that would include 'unofficial' trade hubs like Hek, ignore local chat as if it has every STD known to mankind and others that aren't known yet. And if for some reason you DO look at Local, ffs do not click on any of those little linked contracts that get constantly posted."

From all places in Eve I've been with my toons playing around I still have these goose pumps when I think at ZDAT fight with hundreds of Concord ships everywhere, players and concord wrecks everywhere, carriers at the undock getting pop, zdat cyno and hundreds of ships popping out of no where...

Maybe this was an RP thing or when was possible a couple years ago but yeah, Rens is cool, got even killed and podded for the first time in Frarn and was like "wtf did I?"

Awesome, really awesome.

i have personally found that people posting scams in local chat are often scammers

this information has helped me avoid many scammers to this day

Players dogpile on others who whine about scammers. Now we have whiners whining about anti-scammers.

If the game allows one, it should the other.

And while the excessive spam sucks in Rens, it's kind of funny watching scammers whine about Shmitar, Bilaxi, etc spamming anti-scamming messages.

At least for a minute then I turn local off. While local does suck, it's past being usable at all now.

Why can't they put a time delay per message on spammers?

22. Post constructively.

Negative feedback can be very useful to further improve EVE Online provided that it is presented in a civil and factual manner. All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved. Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be. Users are also reminded that posting with a lack of content also constitutes non-constructive posting.

33. Posting of chat logs outside the Crime & Punishment forum channel is prohibited.

The posting of chat logs between player parties is prohibited on all forum channels of the EVE Online forums, with the exception of the Crime & Punishment Channel where they can be posted as part of stories in the Pirate Story Thread.
Specific rules regarding the omission of pilot names apply in this instance. Further details can be found in the rules stickies in the Crime & Punishment forum channel.

Just as I can't stand people that watch a chess game and yell out advice to the players, I can't stand people that obsessively spam anti-scam moralism.

EVE would be a miserable game without deceit, treachery and backstabbing. I know this because I was a mission bear for a short time at the start of my EVE career. Scammers are a small part of what makes this game so great.

What's the connection between posting on an alt and free speech? Surely posting on a main would be a stance for free speech. Posting on an alt says 'me afraid to post this on msin as must hide real identity, in case wardec/ganks/mum finds out' etc (Last reason my own).

I also don't sure I understamd forum alts allowed anyway. Seems to conflict with 'no renames because what you do/say must have consequences' thing.

As for OP. name and shame disavowed but scammers free to push their toxic wares on boards freestyle. Double standards?
