So I've been trying out hacking and archaeology this last week. I've got good scanning & exploration skills, I've only failed to open 2/15 or so containers I've tried to open.

However the loot I get from them is total garbage, I have probably less than 10 million in various Incognito datacores and Incognito blueprints. I've only been exploring in low & null sec, but I thought the sites would be better than this...

What am I missing? or is exploration pointless?

Relic sites are notably better, but intact armor plate and power circuit prices have started crashing pretty hardcore.

Am I right in assuming this will massively bring down the cost of T2 rigs? I haven't actually looked into it.

Too little information to say for sure. How and in what space are you exploring, what fit are you using and what spew cans are you collecting? There are many ways a professional explorer can maximize the profit he can make. Also keep in mind, that the loot isn't as valuable as it used to be due to the incresed supply.

Started doing exploration again recently.
At the moment it's in 0.5 systems.
The 10 Relic and Data sites I did have had mostly junk with the odd 1-2M ISK drop (this is using a cargo scanner to pick and choose).

Decided to try some combat sites in the same systems instead.
First one I visited contained the wrecks of 2 HACs (plus the scramming rats that did the job). Cleaned up the rats for not much loot, but the HAC wrecks got me about 40M in T2 modules and some nice salvage. (Went flashy yellow of course, but meh)
Then I found a 4/10 site that dropped 2 deadspace modules from a Domination BC, about 450M worth all up.

The Relic and Data mini games are OK, but for me so far the combat sites have been about 100 times more profitable and probably more fun.

It would not be called exploration if they told you where the good sites are - wouldn´t it?

What kind of ship were you using to do both exploration and combat in?

i'm not telling where i've found a load of sites but i just looked at empire low sec areas with low populations. relic sites are best as people said. parts and materials only, run loads of them and you should get some nice T2 and a lot of T1 salvage.

it's not amazing ISK but it's decent.

sometimes also you can find quite a busy system where people are staging PvP, lots of black ops on d-scan etc. and full of sites but people aren't running them because of the high local count, but the locals couldn't care less about you because it's not null where people will tend to be shrill at you in local when you pop up.

forums.  serious business.

I don't.
Cheetah fitted with probe launcher, cloak, analyzers, MWD etc.
Hurricane or Fleet Tempest for shooting stuff.
Cheetah quickly finds and bookmarks all sites, checks non-combat sites with a cargo scanner for anything worth grabbing, then swap to a combat ship for the combat sites.
Systems I play in are fairly quiet so can afford a couple of minutes to swap ships.

There are no good sites.
The price has hardcore dropped in last week because this "exploration " crap is about as hard or as exploratory as walking out your door.

there are SOOOO many wcs covert frigs just raiding these sites in null for the good drops it's untrue.
where it was a nice idea. removing any obstacle to who could do these has made it pointless.
even some t1 frig npc in the site would of stopped the farming.

in principal i like the fact there are incoms that don't require tedious flow charts or shooting things.
but the fact it's just one has made it way to over populated.

Molden Heath is pretty nice, both lowsec and highsec. Gotta love those Angel Cartel sites.

Word of advice, get you coherence above 80 for relic sites if you wanna do them in 0.0, Nothings hurts more then watching 100-200 mil in each ruin can blow up infront of your face.

I dunno dude.

Staurday night I found a Large Sansha Pulse Battery 3-Run BPC in a High Sec Relic site, and sold each faction Battery for 60,000,000 which totals of course 180,000,000.

From one site. Is this considered weak loot now ??

I don't know if this happens in hi-sec but in null we are hunting for Tower BPC.

So the main goal (as we found out) of these new relic sites are the Tower BPC. The other day a corp-mate found a large tower bpc and a med bpc. Totaling to about 2 bil.

So the challange is this: scan down all of them then go each can and use a cargo scanner. If you have the luck to find a tower bpc make sure somebody with max skills does the scan to be sure it will succesfull. Then just target the data contaieners, as thats where the bpc lie.

Agreed. It is all pretty crappy ISK except for the occasional find (as described previously).

Decryptors are a joke. Actually kind of a funny one.
