AMD driver issues?

Ok, so I upgraded my GPU recently from an old GTS 250 1 GB to a Radeon 7850 2 GB. Uninstall of Nvidia drivers and install of AMD drivers went smoothly. However, EVE does not run very well for me. Objects or portions of them (clear shield parts of gallente stations and star gates) in space disappear randomly, especially after jumping through gates. FPS becomes very unstable at times, pegged at 60, then jumps down to 5 and back up again, especially when opening windows or jumping through gates. If i decide to go into CQ, the character sometimes will render oddly as well. Colors and textures do not appear correctly. Clothing is messed up at times. I experienced none of these issues before the GPU swap.

So, my question is are there certain settings in CCC that should be off for EVE? or on maybe? Or is there a better version driver to be running? Are there others experiencing this kind of thing? This sucks as all other games I have played on this card run fine on ultimate settings. no lag, no glitching. Even older Nvidia optimized games such as bioshock run perfectly well.

All drivers are up to date as well. running 12 GB RAM, AMD Athlon II X2 2.8, 680 W PSU.

Edit, before anybody says anything about this, the CPU will be upgraded very soon as well to a Phenom II X4.
