Shocked It works! ... it works? why is it working!?

I just installed eve on my chrome book some how.
Now I'm scratching my head at all the points where it should have gone wrong...

So the family and I moved to Louisianan from California, a good 1700 miles. I'm out here looking for better work with my Father.
Sadly I left my hand built gaming rig in CA with no hope of getting it out here any time soon.
I was lucky enough to grab my Chrome book as a last minute item.
About a month after we got here the eve bug started biting hard, and I started eyeballing my chrome book.

Sure it's a web based operating system with an 11" screen and incredibly under powered hardware that no where near reaches the minimum system requirements... at least it's not a Mac Cool (was that a run on sentence? Good!)


step 1 (internets)

no wired broad band of any kind out here
Hello mister satellite! 50$ a month for 10GB!?!? but eve is a 5GB download
no limit between 12am and 5am, ok that works


step 2 (turn a book into a computer)

eve can't play on chrome? ummm, I knew that... (CRAP!)
"use ubuntu" EWWW! no I'll get windows
"you can't install windows on the acer C7"
ubuntu come back! I love you.


step 3 (wine, than stop crying and install wine)

done, now what?
install eve online through wine
"way too EZ, never going to work"
OMG it worked!


step 4 (Logz in)

trial account...
Nope!.. chrome books can't run character creation
"Hours for Plex" your main account to see if you can log in.
Nope CCP took that feature away
Cry for a bit


step 5 (gamble)

drive 22 miles to walmart
buy prepaid money card
add 15$ to card
drive home and fined out it coast 3$ to add money to card so your 3$ short.
drive back to walmart
add 6$
drive home and buy 1 month of eve time


Step 6 (there is no step 7)
launch eve
launcher errors
launch eve
launcher errors
launch eve
Charterer selection
Select Felicia Neathers
Hold breath
.....

UI loads perfectly
Freak out with excitement!
spend the next 7 hours in market and PI

Interesting to know, and amusing to see your pained installation process. Amazing to see that you got it working, I would never have expected it!

Hi OP! o/

I have the Acer C7 chromebook as well.

I loaded up wine and eve and it was running like in your video.

Today I noticed that the space graphics are running no problem now! I can load the station environment too.

Its looking real good now!

How was yours? I was wondering if CCP put out a patch or something.
