Client Freezing from 6/24 onward

I have had 4 Client freezes since yesterday morning. 2 happened just warping through space. The other 2 happened when transferring product, once in Station into a ship cargo, the other time when transferring product to a POCO from my Orca.

These are so random and sporadic, I'm not sure if a Petition with accompanying LogServer would be much help for right now.

I sure hope I'm not the only one.

Nothing else is failing on my computer.

I just want to see if anyone else is having this new issue before I go so far as to reinstall the Client. Repair tool is working fine when I ran it.

I've had the same issue and it only started this morning for me.

I'm used to dualboxing characters and mining. This morning, I was taking my venture to round up all the stuff that I have strewn across the universe. I encountered an issue several times with the client; the display would freeze and everything that I could interact with was stopped. About 15 seconds - 1 minute later, I was unfrozen and able to resume play. This occurred when I:

  • Hovered over the training time for my current skill.

  • Opened the cargo/inventory for my Venture.

  • During a warp between systems.

  • Upon arrival of an ore site.

  • During command issuance to drones to attack rats.

  • Upon mouseover of the nearby contents of space.

This is all I could remember. I was also using VLC to run a TV show during my long jumps, but as soon as EVE froze, that froze as well. I am running the repair tool, about to update my NVidia drivers as soon as that is done and test with VLC some more when EVE isn't running to isolate the issue.

I should note that before the patch this morning, I was dualboxing an Orca and a Covetor for hours at a time with no issue. Was not running VLC all the time, but did have it running for some of the time while dualboxing.

I've checked my event viewer and haven't found anything pointing one way or the other yet.

I also was searching for the issue this morning and some people with my problem were encountering problems with their anti-virus running in the background and pro-actively scanning while running other clients/programs. Hopefully this helps!

Indeed, it's so random, I'm not sure what to contribute as helpful.

I've been spared for approaching 24 hours now, so we'll see.

Welp, I solved my issue and am most embarrassed.

I had moved my computer while rearranging last weekend, and did not realize that in the new location the computer case was getting hit with direct sun for 3 hours every morning ! LolOops

God knows how hot the internal temperature was getting inside the case, but it was apparently hot enough to overheat the CPU and cause the lock-ups.

At least from now on I'll always be on the lookout for sunlight paths when locating a tower.

Sigh.

I've had an identical freeze. Just do a search on "freeze" and you'll find many people with the same problem.
