I know this has been done to death, but here is my 2 cents.

Problem- AFK cloaky people.
Why problem? - Because AFKness is against the EULA, among other things.

Solution:

0.0-
stations can be upgraded with a module that produces a system wide pulse that decloaks everyone in system.
This module is large and expensive and can only be operated by a toon in station that has the correct roles/rights.

2min spool up timer- like a suicide but a system wide notifcation giving the countdown to the pulse

"Station Pulstar of (insert corp/alliance here) has initiated system wide de-cloak pulse. Pulse in 1 min 59s" etc

then at 1:30 1:min 30S and a 10s countdown.

Low sec/hi sec

Due to lack of Player stations. then certain stations like navy etc will have the module installed. You can activate in same way but will cost a significant amount of isk. Maybe amount varies with sec status and/or standings?

WH space - not available due to lack of stations.

-All sec-
All mods will need to re spool after use -6 hrs maybe a good amount - so 4 times a day max.
One per system,

--implications---
those who are not afk, will have plenty of warning that they are about to be decloaked, so they warp to a safe. get decloaked, warp back.

this will work for solo or large bomber fleets.
Remember they can only do it once, then have to wait 6 hrs.

Tactics- this will allow probers to get fixes on afk cloakers and remove them for the good of everyone.

hi wars- This will not do anything for out of corp cloaked spies unless u want to suicide them, but will help those who live in a system have some security.

hi/low - being able to pay to start the pulse for either delcoaking intel etc or to prevent it being used against u is an intended part of the mechanic.

A nice graphic effect when the pulse happens would also be cool,

Remember the pulse is a pulse, it doesn't stay in effect.

-side affects-
Will allow locals to get confirmation that the local spike is actually x/yz ships and a fleet comp of the cloakies. but this could be done if they used d-scan when the fleet entered.
Encourage station building in null sec.

-Thoughts, opinions - obvious gaping flaws in the idea -All welcome.

This is the second afk cloaky thread from my corp in a week. In theory it could wotk but would be op for fleet defence during siege ops. Perhaps have it induce a slow overheat and it might work.

I drain ducks of their moisture for sustenance.

Maybe when system is contested in doesn't work.....you shouldn't be able to mess with a system that u don't have full sov over.

These are the kinds of frustrations people have when they rent space in 0.0 to rat in and then have trouble actually ratting to their heart's content because they can't seem to get organized enough to deal with disruptions from cloaky campers.

I'm really sorry guys, but in my opinion if you're going to move to nullsec then you should take your game to the next level too. There is no safe 2/47 ratting. Once you accept that then proper solutions may present themselves.

First, afk is not against eula.

Second, afk cloaks is not a problem.

Third, this non problem is even less of a non problem in low sec.

Finally, what if I'm flying through null in my cloaky ship and all of a sudden I have to take a wicked deuce that leaves me incapacitated for an unspecified amount of time. Why do I need to log off in space instead of just safing up and cloaking?

This is really the only part that isn't based on flawed premises.

Not sure why you would be concerned about afk cloakers.

"AFK Cloakers, a station based solution".

You know those corpies of yours, the ones that are AFK in station rather than semi-afk ratting I mean?

Those people should be on comms and in a standing fleet.

If not, get out of space you can't be bothered to defend and go back to running lvl4s in highsec.

It's not. So what's the problem your are trying to solve?

Being AFK, either in station or in space, is not against the EULA.

Please refrain from opening further topics on this.
