Did actually do that, spent quite some time trying to tie down some ship locations in the Maila system near a jumpgate. Spend a lot of time using D-scan and probes.

Looked like a frigate and a jump freighter left in space around a tower. However when I warped in to investigate further I found them protected by a shield and several gun turrets. Had to run at that point.

Annoying

I was there when some of my friends have discovered POS towers / POS bubbles for the first time. Most of them said loudly "wow!". They were full of excitement later when we did something as simple as erecting our own space structures. And then they went all over the systems and tried to discover another POSes, some of them has been almost killed, and their reaction was "lol that was fun!"

I'm trying to imagine you in real life, and I see a meadow full of flowers, with waterfall nearby, birds singing, maybe with a vulcan somewhere far on the horizon to make it a bit adventurous. And you , wandering around aimlessly, with an expressions of total boredom in the middle of so many miracles.

but I was hoping to loot the ships I've discovered, not having to run away from bot defences. Yeah its interesting but its not good for me when I can't really do anything because I'm broke and are trying to find something to loot/steal or kill in a frigate.

Yeah this game is great but when you can't even afford to replace that cruiser you've just lost then finding fun things to do becomes secondary to trying to stay economically viable.

I've never played WOW, indeed this is the first mmo that has really got me to subscribe. I've tried various f2p MMOs but none have really won me over. I've tried LOTRO, conan online, Dungeons and Dragons online and none of them have been than interested. TOR was good for a time but I was there more for the story than died off as it when on so that didn't work.

Look the main multiplayer game I've been playing up to this point is world of tanks.

Welcome to New Eden.

Unlike any many, many, other mmos, particularly the ones mentioned, you carve out your own entertainment in Eve. It's still snowing in New Eden, and people still walk up and down the cliff. In near-arctic like conditions. Survival, entertainment and prosperity are found through working with other players, knowingly or otherwise. There is no theme park. CCP even has a video that rather sums things up concerning the nature of Eve:

Wait ...waht? You wanted to loot someone's JF just because you found it?....and you didn't notice the force field from the pos on d-scan...oh my...

Those "bot defenses" are a space station. Dat tis no moon...B-E-E-R that spells moon.

They've been there for 2 days or more so I was hoping that the owners had forgotten them. Yes I could see that there was a control tower but I didn't realise that it projected a shield and the gun turrets in the area hadn't shown up so I was hoping it was an undefended postion relying on stealth.

You've got time to monitor a POS for days via d-scan to see if it's ok to approach a jf to loot it, but not enough time to go out in Venture and mine for an hour or two or to run a few missions, because those things are boring. Therefore you have no money and this game has nothing for you to do.

Okay.

About half of my EVE friends were Blizzard account holders, at least one still actively plays WoW, he is a lowsec/nullsec explorer and pvper. I've spent years in miscellaneous themepark games, having real blast (although EVE suits me more). And also, I sometimes play Spider Solitaire on my mobile, would you please allow me to fly at least Velator?

Wtf? Seriously man, you are talking to a newbie, how the hell is he supposed to know what a force field is? I for one am extremely happy that he uses dscan, I didn't know what that thing is for first several months of my EVE life. And that included few weeks in WH.

POS is not bot defenses.

You are now just classed as a troll and a fail one.

My apologies, but for folks that aren't technical, often AI == bot. You have to know whether OP means "bot" in the general sense (a piece of AI script that is running), or a specific sense that there is a disconnect on. I'm a programmer myself, and "bot" is an ambiguous term that can be interpreted vastly differently from one person to another.

Calling somebody "stupid and ignorant" isn't constructive when it could be as simple as a disconnect on what a term is defined as (when the term itself can be ambiguous).

And out-right calling a new player a troll isn't exactly a welcoming environment when this is the "New Citizens" section. And I disagree that "saying nothing is better." I'd rather a new player talk, get corrected and educated, and become an educated player than saying nothing and staying in the dark.

On a different thread with this OP, he has been thankful for links to useful advice. So I don't believe he is a troll or somebody who wants to stay "ignorant." Some people just have different styles of learning.

1 - Jump Freighters cost billions of isk , for someone to leave one unprotected would be...unlikely.
- What you found was a POS (kind of a mini station). They emit big force fields that protect everything inside them. Because ships can't dock inside a POS, players often park ships inside their POS's protective force feild and leave them there until they need them.

2 - There are many groups that will replace the ships you lose fighting - especially frigates. One of them offerred you just that in this very thread.

3 - Don't you get a free venture mining ship in the tutorials? Well...

I have 2 ventures, however I can only ever get 1 trip a hour that give about 1m so it takes time.

However I've found some info about how to trade in this game so I'm going to try that.

BOT means automated gameplay
A.I is Artificial Intelligence

HUGE difference.

And have you seen OP's posting history...We TRY to help him, but he just ignores any advice and keeps to his own (stupid) ideas and opinions which are not correct.
