I thoroughly enjoyed Gandolfini as an actor and he seemed like a likable man so take all the follwoing with a grain of salt Bear

ABC had tha audacity to say that he changed the way we watched TV. The Sapranos was an awesome show, so do not get me wrong, there was nothing earth shattering about it and they never made this claim while he was alive.

(BTW: Slim Whitman died today, too)

He should have taken care of himself Ugh Kind of like Slim did.

It blows my mind when people get surprised when people like this die. The man had no respect for his body. He died early but his body was in the shape of a 75 y/o or older man.

Sometime Big smile

I am a health and wellness professional so when people are surprised that someone dies when they are obese I go into reality check mode. That is all. That being said I am tired of the 'it is okay to be morbidly obese movement.' Chris Farley was the last obese entertainment professional I somewhat mourned the loss of.

Other then that, when there in miss information in a thread I am perusing I can not help but correct... it is in my nature Ugh

Sopranos was one of the best TV series ever made. A sad loss.

Only because of Gandolfini.

I give Gandolfini huge kudos for making an otherwise tired and worn-out concept (American-Italian gangsters) into frequently brilliant drama.

Without him, the show would have tanked in a season. Two, at most, if HBO had nothing else to crank into production.

This RIP thread must have originated in GD. Seems to be a touch trashier.

Honestly never watched the Sopranos (not a fan of mafia themed movies and shows). So when someone told me today tht James Gandolfini died today, and I responded "Who?", I got the most evil look. Lol

Anyway, if you told me Tony Soprano died I would have known who you meant, so RIP, Tony!

It's also ironic that he's an Italian-American, who more often than any other hyphenated American travel to Italy.
