I went into a data site, used the correct modules and these little blue star things came out and disappeared. What were they and how do you catch them? Also, is there a guide to what that map thing is all about when using the analyzer?

Look around the forums; there's lots of good stuff posted already. But here's a summary.

Hack the site, kill the core, and little mini cans shoot out. Click on them and you'll mini-tractor them in and get whatever is inside. SOP is currently to cargo scan the thing you're hacking to see what's inside, then match it up with a list like this, and click the cans that will have what you want the most. As a general rule, you'll want to grab Data and Parts containers to get the most value out of a site, but Materials about the same as Parts in Relic sites.
