another thing i was thinking about is maybe buying a hulk pilot off the forums, and running with a orca and a hulk to get my isk. I believe you can find decent mining character's for like 2.5 billion isk. Then just taking that isk i make and putting it into manufacturing.

Just skip the hulk pilot and buy a decent indy pilot with skills to do T2 manufacturing. Something like this would do after you add whatever science skill you need, if any. Buy a POS and some labs then invest whatever you have left over into materials you need. Download Isk Per Hour and see what will make you the most and is easiest to sell (sort by SVR*IPH). Then sit back and enjoy the easy isk.

Here is my suggestion, based on starting out mining and then branching out over the past 4 years with this particular iteration of my account(s).

Based on your skills:
Get in to a Mackinaw (you don't need Orca skill if you are solo mining, since you can't mine in an Orca), get an HX-1005 and all T2 modules, skill up in Veld/Scor/Pyro/Kernite/etc... so you can use T2 Crystals, you want to max your mining Mack and then...

Start to collect basic BPOs, this is for use of your minerals, and you should do Mining Missions for standings with R&D agents and for Jump Clones (pick an NPC Corp with Mining missions and Jump Clones - then knock them out to 8... Carthum is best for Amarr, do research if you want to use some other faction).

Then skill up exploration - Data and Relic, you will get yourr decryptors and a DC buff from them.

You can then setup your Jump Clones, spect out your ships for each activity, and you can do a few difference activities but all will add to the succes of the others - Mining, Missions, Production, Trade, Explortion, and even PvP if you want, as you have a means to fund you "blowing up stuff".

If you want to get started with industry, stop mining , just stop it teaches wrong values for minerals since most people think they are "free".
