The ability to join or leave instantly would be exploited, that's all that really needs to be said.

^this one

Seems quite a logical reason IMO.

I wouldn't bother answering the trolls if I were you, it only gives them more ammo for their flamethrowers Cool

I think that it would be wise to realize that this game isn't going to provide a perfect scenario for every player according to his or her beliefs on how this game should be running. No doubt that you and your friends will run into many other situations that you won't like. But I wouldn't call this a bad experience, maybe an inconvenience, but not bad. Having your wealthy corp infiltrated that you took 3 years to build and all it's assets and isk stolen, now that may fall under bad...but still totally legit Blink

Anyone who can't wait 24 hours to do something shouldn't be playing EVEin the 1st place. There are thousands of games that do instant gratification, EVE ins't one of them.

I understand the possible abuse if people would be able to swap militia instantly.
so 24h time to leave the militia 24h to join the other one (i guess)
but what about joining the militia for the first time?
couldn't there be a corp vote instead of the timer?

(because I understand some corp member could be surprised / exploited being pushed instantly into the changed rule of engagement militia represent.)

The feature that prevents you from doing that is hardcoded into several other aspects of the game, this was explained to you already. You are already in a corp, an NPC corp. If people could, even for the first time, leave an NPC corp instantly to join FW, it would also be exploitable.

Besides...

They won't go and recode the game because you and your friends are impatient.

Also, you've been asked this before, but what's with the random bolding?

"Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Best Meltdown Ever.

Most of the seemingly annoying things in the game, make sense when you look a little deeper.

If you could instantly swap FW back and forth, it would be thoroughly abused by the plex farming botters.

It's not intended to discourage the new players, either.

It's to give you a chance to move your assets into FW space before the timer is up. Because when the timer is up, you are basically flagged to everyone of the opposite faction, highsec or not, they can attack you at will.

And you can't do faction warfare with just one ship.

So the timer is supposed to give you the time to move your assets and ships into a decent staging area for FW.

Excellent explanation and probably the best reply in this thread. It definitely answers the OP's question.

In fact, almost everything in this game was about preparation. That's what made this game so great. The 5 P's = Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.

However now it seems this game is turning more and more into instant gratification, as evident with the new so called exploration expansion.

I thought there were more P's, and that one of them was Podding. Big smile

What you should have done is apply to join FW right before downtime. Then after downtime you would have ben in.

The OP's 24-issue aside,

Also, according to the Wiki their is no wait on joining from an NPC corp -- which was part of an earlier point for "first timers"-- as you don't have roles.

"If the pilot is joining from a player corporation, then the pilot may not have any roles or grantable roles in order to be able to leave his or her former corporation instantly."

Is this not an accurate interpretation?

Are you sure there is a 24 hour delay? As far as I am aware this delay was never in place for FW. The only delay I can think of is the one where you have to give up roles within a corp before leaving for obvious reasons. I recently signed an alt with the militia and there was no delay. I think the OP and many in this thread may have their facts wrong.

It sounds to me like you joined your corp, I didn't know individuals in an NPC corp had to wait?

My thoughts exactly. OP and his friends probably joined a corp and were given roles, hence the 24 hour period to drop the roles before leaving.

That's what I was thinking but didn't want to pass on wrong info in the future and I didn't know if something had changed.

Thanks!

Well just going by my own experience a week or so ago. There was definitely no delay in joining the militia barring the delay which was required to drop roles in the previous corporation. As soon as roles were dropped though I could join the militia instantly. I'm not sure if the OP has some special circumstance which incurs a 24 hour timer, although I doubt it.

Yeah, the person said he/she and her friends joined a corp.
But thought the 24-hour wait was bad for spanking new people (who would normally be in an NPC corp)
And some said there was a wait in an NPC corp...

So indeed this was a normal corp stasis wait.

Otherwise, I thought I might have been mistaken when I argued, per se, otherwise.
If so, I was going to own up to such.

A good example that again shows why eve online is not the succes subscription wise it could have been.
The waiting time is something you basicly only see in eve though.

For a casual gamer its probably best to play eve on the side of a other game that you play full time.
Untill then just skill some long skills and core skills ( which should be removed btw ).

If it is a player corp joining FW, then they have to wait 24 hours or until after the next downtime.

You were clear, no worries.

The downtime exploit of sorts is good to know. I thought about maybe joining at some point (thought about it since I started the game) -- when I have more time to commit to it. and read up on it.
