I'm going to sign up for an account on second life and post to their forums that I'm quitting because of the inadequate space combat.

WTF wrong with all you people.

You probably walk around with a mirror in your pocket. So you can see your self and be able to identify with that biomass in front of it.

I feel your pain, this week I bought Forza Motorsport 4 and it sucked, your avatar is just a car! how dumb is that? How are you supposed to identify with a car in a racing game? Why cant I walk around my pits and play poker with the mechanic?

It utterly ruined the game for me, well I wont be buying any other Forza games let me tell you!

Yes, you have to repeat yourself because your argument is ****** and convinces no-one.

People joined this game to play a complete sci-fi simulator. This is the one message that CCP has been repeating again and again. And that includes stuff on stations, and in space, and on planets, and all the rest.

Then you miss the point of my argument. You might as well say you joined EVE because you wanted to swing an electro-sword at a space-dragon, and then make a stink when you find out you can't.

"complete sci-fi simulator" is market speak for "buy buy buy." It is meaningless. For it to EVER be a true statement, the game would have to be EVERY SINGLE sci-fi universe ever conceived. Well, until I can force push captain kirk off my steam powered intergalactic sailboat, EVE won't be a "complete sci-fi simulator."

And buying into market speak is the second dumbest thing you could do, right behind buying a game for "features" that it doesn't have.

Again. You stumble your way through a ****** up pseudo arguement. Perhaps you'd like to tell the null sec players that they also shouldn't get annoyed about features they don't already have.

And getting pissed of that CCP fails to deliver something they have been promising for years (Faction warefare anyone) is an appropriate response.

This is it.

Seems the majority of posters in this thread don't get it.

And the funny thing is they keep saying how this is a game about flying spaceships yet here they sit in the forums doing what? Definitely not flying spaceships.

Actually, they totally missed the big picture due to not being able to pull their heads out of the so called sand box..

Ahhh, that's right, this is General Discussion.

The Dream

Incarna is a visionary step to turn a simple mmo spaceship simulation into a real time based sci-fi virtual reality. Dust is a visionary step to turn a simple mmo first person shooter simulation into a real time based sci-fi virtual reality. Joining these two totally different control applications together to work simultaneously will create the ultimate real time based sci-fi virtual reality universe.

This will open up a whole new era and revolutionize the gaming world as we know it. And when it all comes together, we'll have front row seats on the ground floor helping to make history.

Imagine this scenario.

While in your Captains Quarters, an alarm activates informing you an invasion force has attacked and captured a PI facility on Planet IV. You call up the Dust Commander and inform him to meet you in the war room of the Command Center to plan a counter attack and regain control. In the war room are 3-D visual maps of the Planet, the PI facility's and surrounding areas. You both examine the situation, verify the enemy position and mark the drop zones for supplies. After forming a plan of attack, you load the supplies into your ship while the Dust Commander rejoins his team who are waiting at the 1st drop zone.

With the supplies loaded in your ship, you travel to the planet, enter into atmospheric flight and drop the supplies at the 1st drop zone. While en-route back to the station, you encounter a small blockade of enemy ships. You make a call to your corporation and are quickly joined by a couple of Fleet mates. Small gang PvP combat starts happening in space while the ground forces engage each other.

As the battle in space continues, you receive a call from the Dust Commander requesting more supplies to be dropped at the 2nd drop zone. You and your Fleet mates have almost killed all enemy blockade ships when more enemy ships warp in and you find yourself tackled. Dust Commander contacts you again informing you they need those supplies now.

Eve is Real

This is just one of the many different possibility's that could happen. I for one hope and pray that CCP is successful in making their dream a reality for us to enjoy.

To the OP

no need to leave.

Incarna isn't going away since it's tied in with WiS which isn't going away since it's tied in with Dust which isn't going away since it's tied in with Sony which isn't going away since it's tied in with CCP which isn't going away since it's tied in with Incarna.

Look at that, went full circle

I LOVE the direction CCP is going now. I'm playing a SF MMORPG not because I want to chat with other people on stations or because I like to dress my char like a barbie- I want to fight in space, CCP has begun to listen to their players, you are the minority- go and play WoW or other "social" mmorpgs.

Taking from a post i saw, after you created your character and formed in space by the end of the first hour you were asking 2 questions. 1.How do I steer(lulz) 2. how do i get out of the ship.. The notion that WiS will inhibit you from can flipping is completely silly. In fact this will INCREASE the amount of people to ransom and boat violence by a large margin. Avatars make it a more personal feel and gives you identity. Your own identity that no one else has. As everyone has the same ship as you the feel is of unoriginality(sp) and a cog in the system. Were all cogs in rl one way or another you dont want to be that in a internet game as well.

I see where you are getting at and I understand. developing one aspect in spit of another is a poor move. However that doesnt make the premise or logic behind it bad. Think about it the more people join the more money CCP makes the more content, ships, mods etc you get to fly your ship. Who cares if 1000 people sit in station there cash flow is going to your enjoyment.

Incarna haters didnt want their money to be used to develop Incarna. Well, mine will not be used to give them new toys. Current sub is ending Nov 2nd and won't be renewed.

I might be so wrong but it kinda look that you did just what you needed 5 years ago...you should try cheap asian virtual games maybe proly free and if you pay there and that much you can proly touch some virtual friend bum and giggle.

I must be getting different dev blogs from you. Also, you must have only been playing EVE for like 3 days if you think any of that can happen the way you describe.

WiS [is] tied in with Dust

You haven't been paying attention... the problem with Incarna is that there has never been any point to it, except second life-esq /dance. A dev did have a crazy idea that he presented with the caveat "this will not happen any time soon" about smuggling and drugs, but no one has yet presented a way anything like that would be more effective on foot than through a window interface. Storefronts would be good for incarna, if there were any reason to buy from one producer over another.

Yes, I hope incarna does finish rolling out. Yes, I hope CCP gets some inspiration to make it add value to EVE (/dance is not value.) No, I don't think it should be done at the expense of EVE failing entirely.

So do people actually realise that CCP wanted to have WiS when the game was first released, but limited the scope of the game so they could get it released? Torfi has spoken about it previously in interviews.

I hope that CCP truely does see their 'vision' come to fruition one day, because quite frankly it would be nether regions wet damn awesome.

And to those people saying that CCP are simply dreaming with some of the things they would like to add to EVE, just remember those same dreamers are the ones that got the game to the market in the first place.

Nex (Cash Shop) / Aurum - removing sand from the sandbox since Incarna. Currently the only use for aurum is to buy virtual items in the in-game store, but Cockerill expects to expand its uses in the future.

I'm certain a computer animation of that wouldn't be nearly so compelling... however, if the art devs were to put together something like that, I might have to start easing up on my criticism of the blandness of their work.

Also, there are video games that do jiggly boobs much better than EVE ever will (in some, that's all they do.) I don't come to EVE to spank the monkey.

Holy Christ..please do leave , i believe Eve was made for flying in space and the pilots that forged the early alliances and wrote the guides we all use were pilots - and not walkers.

It was so scary these past few months seeing Eve trend towards the themepark "give me it now and I don't want to have to work for it and i want a pony too" crowd.

Thank god Hilmar says it's time to get back on track, if you attempt to derail that sentiment i think you will get a sound thrashing here in the forums. One that is justly deserved.
