Is Goonswarm getting a Scientology vibe?

Scientology is known for taking an immediate offensive against critics, it's called their "Attack the Attackers" policy. Something like...

(1) Spot who is attacking us.
(2) Start investigating them promptly for felonies or worse using own professionals, not outside agencies.
(3) Double curve our reply by saying we welcome an investigation of them.
(4) Start feeding lurid, blood, sex, crime actual evidence on the attackers to the press.

I noticed Goonswarm have a similar policy in response to people complaining about them after a ganking...

(1) Read it.
(2) Troll the **** out of them
(3) Laugh at them for posting about losing their ship
(4) Think back to all the neat stuff you got from him, and smile.
(5) Troll some more
(6) Remember: Shitting up Eve-O is everyone's responsibility

That's a slippery slope you're on. Is the Mittani becoming the new L. Ron Hubbard? Big smile

L. Ron never falsely claimed to be a Lawyer, but both were/are just as delusional and egotistical.

There's a million angry citizens looking down their tubes..at me.

And yet, with their name in the title, you still read and replied?

GoonSwarm is literally an evil expansionist Space Empire...

Are you expecting them to be nice or something because that kind of defeats the point of them.

You know being a Space Empire and all.

Nope, I was just searching for stuff on ganking and google provided the link to Goonwiki. As I got to the part mentioned, it reminded me of something I once read about Scientology. I'm not saying their wrong to do it, just that reading it gave me a Scientolgy vibe.

Not particularly no.

Largely because they're not trying to hide a pyramid scheme behind a thin veneer of religion or spiritual enlightenment (and massive pay walls) and trying to sue anyone who points this out into oblivion.

The vibe you are picking up is probably an echo of a past space trauma. They can stay with you forever unless you are audited with a "pubbie meter". Almost any goon has the capability to perform the audit for a reasonable fee.

You should look into it as once you are pubbie clear you will discover your true potential!

What exactly is the point of scientology? Other than trying to aggress anyone who says anything bad about them, it seems they don't stand for much, so kind of misses the point of being a religion which are usually based on a firm set of beliefs.

Ron L Hubbard made a wager that he could start a more profitable & more popular fake religion than another author & won.

No, I'm not kidding.

Edit: The point of it was to make money from people buying in to it. People are still doing this even though the guy is dead. He pulled off the best scam in modern history & spent the last few years of his life dodging tax by living on a boat & forcing it's crew to help him hunt for treasure left over by the aliens that his fake religion was based on.
