Since Odyssey, scanning with probe surely got alot easier for people who had their trouble with that, but on the other hand more time consuming for the cracks of that job. There had been people who were able to pinpoint a ship with two or at most three times scanning, who developed their own technics and personal skills for this.

The new probe scanning comes with two preset formations when launching your probes, but in order to quickly ajust your probes the way you prefer, you would need them all to be at the same point in space instead they are spread over the whole solar system now. In combination with your directional scanner it was very helpful that they started at your current location, but now they don't. Please dont mix things up here, I know they are actual launched directly around my ship but F10 (map) doesnt show it like this but instead starts with the first of the two preset formations. A minor issue is that you have to look in your scan window to see your current scan radius. It was easier to see the radius in space. But that's just training yourself to look somewhere else now.

The new probe scanning surely is a plus for the eve crowd, but on the other hand slows down trained people. Dont get me wrong the new scanning is not all bad. I have at least two new features of scanning that I love, but stlll it's very annoying that you have to decide whether you stick with the new preset pinpoint formation (which is pretty good but still not perfect) and lose pinpoint-time or you try to reajust your spread out probes and lose pinpoint-time as well.

My idea of a solution to this would be to save the last costom formation on the server, which is only 8 points in space for each and every player. This feature already kinda exists. Right now, when starting the game, launching your probes, reajusting your formation, taking the probes in, and relaunching them, you end up with your last costom formation. In other words a save costom version of your probe formation. But if you quit the game or log off and start a new session, you end up with the same old preset formation again instead of your last costom one. Your costom formation dont get saved from one session to another.

I'd hardly recomment enduring scan probe formaitons, that last for as many sessions as you like as long as you dont hit one of the preset formation buttons and only use the hud button for launching.
