Alright i already know how much hate mail im going to get for running missions in a L4 tengu, but im not the only one who does it. Anyway i had a question on some HIGHSEC gate camps. T3 ships are pretty damn fast and i thought usually they get away. I jumped through a gate and on the other side were 3 typhoon battlecruisers orbiting. Felt a little funny so i tried to warp to something pointed in my direction. Insta-Lock 1400MM Howitzers blasted me apart before i even clicked on my resistors and shield boosters. So my mail question here is, can these things be avoided with all highsec care bear jokes aside. Ps the loss of their ships = 160 million loss of mine was 2.7 B and all my shiny stuff dropped so they got away with it.

Always turn on your hardeners, that's how you avoid it.

First, you probably passed a scout on a prior gate. That scout had a passive targeter and a scanner, and so the campers knew you were coming, and they knew you were in a ship that was worth attacking.

Second, as you note in your postscript, this comes down to ISK: For an investment of 160M ISK, they got a return of around 2.5Bn ISK. Not bad, right? This is how a fair number of PVPers make money. It's also why ships like your Tengu are called "pinatas" (can't get a tilde-n on this machine, grrr).

If you were tasked with ferrying a Faberge egg across, say, Philadelphia, you wouldn't just plop it in the front seat of your little car and putter around with the doors unlocked and the windows down, right? So when you fly a ship loaded with Faberge eggs, maybe a little caution is called for. Or maybe, if you haven't had trouble for years prior, you can chalk it up to bad luck and keep right on going. The ship has presumably made you more than 2.7Bn ISK over the course of its working life, yes?

Dont jump into things you dont know about i dont suck completely. This drake had 3 ospreys healing him and there was nothing i could do to the ospreys they were not flashing yellow. CCP said they were fixing the problem and this got patched sometime later.

This is why my 3 Billion ISK Tengu(s) never undock. All 3 of them. But I do like giving them a wax job on Sundays and watch them shine...

Neither do I.
