Here I'll give you a serious answer. See all these people saying "can I have your stuff"? Thats the thrill of Eve. That no matter where you are someone might be watching trying to take your stuff. And theres no respawn, no going back to get your stuff. Fortunately there are people in game that will help you fight back.

Agony Unleashed holds classes on fighting. Check out there website and sign up for pvp basic. Theres also Eve University. You can join them and they will teach you a lot about the game. My preference is Agony because you dont have to join there corp. You can do a class and then go on your own way. I was also a member for a while and had a great time. Eve U is good as well. Just not my cup of tea.

Ive quit Eve before as well. A few times. And tried other mmos. Nothing stands up to Eve. There all to easy and theres no risk. Learn the game and the rules and hi-sec griefers will seem trivial to you.

No I mean that eventually you at least knew when you were tagged for pvp. As a combat medic I had to be very careful with my area heals to not heal anyone that was tagged. The problem came because medics that got tagged in this way didn't know it until it was too late.

I've typically avoided PvP because when you play PvP completely than the other aspects of a game.

I ran spin groups for budding jedi. Suddenly bounty hunters everywhere was not uncommon as well as the accidently forgetting you were spec ops and getting swamped by rebels in the star port canteen while getting entertainer buffs. It was fun.

It would seem you arenot ready for a game with real risk.

Does your mouse or keyboard give you a shock when you get hit or die ingame?

In SWG there were no consequences to dying in pvp combat. I think there might have been for jedi at one time, but at that time you had to grind through professions to try to become a Jedi. At the time I had a Combat Medic/Pistoleer, Armorsmith/Carbineer, Biochemist/CH, and Scout/Rifleman all of which I was happy with.

Fighting a Krayt or a Gorax or a Battle Droid on Endor or the Acklay in the Geonosian Bio Lab were risky as well. The fact that you don't consider these risky and I do is a simple difference of opinion.

SWG once had decay so there was a risk to death and getting you're hands on a high quality pike and stormtrooper armour was not all that easy or cheap.

After the NGE everything just became too easy. I had nothing to lose and if it wasnt for starsiders space community I would have left far sooner. EVE is perfect for me.

As an Armorsmith I hated the decay system. It wasn't decay that was broken it was repair. I once made a full suit of composite using nothing but nightsister shards and layers that anyone could wear without buffs. No one was interested because they knew it wouldn't last any longer than anything else. That's what I mean when I say I liked being a "Crafter".

mm... bit off topic I guess

So who would like to get paid to grief some griefers? Twisted

Anybody wants to **** with other players in the game, but they should realize, some of us are independently wealthy middle-aged business men who will take great pleasure spending a few hundred bucks to sell PLEX to have enough ISK to hire every possible merc corp to shut down any and every would be griefer/stalker.

As long as you tough guys and gals are okay with that, then you guess you are not guilty of the hypocrisy of which you accuse the "carebears" for whining.

You fail to get the point.

They were trying to goad you into doing something stupid like engaging them.
Its called psycological warfare and is an entirely valid tactic.

If people calling you bad names is so upsetting for you, I'd suggest not using the internet anymore, it happens all the time.

No worries OP but this game isn't for everybody. It fills a niche in the market for individuals wanting real consequence and real hardship and thus real reward. All of the grieving and scamming and other general faggotry only serves to weed those out who aren't resilient enough to handle this sandbox.

In a sense its survival of the fittest and those who cannot embrace the tools provided to accomplish their goal regardless of the adversity don't last very long.

So your corp mates where to scared to risk a few internet pixels to gain rich riches? Well, in EVE you have to pay attention who you play with. Anybody can challenge you as soon as you undock. If your team is not up for the task the other team will win.

In EVE anything you do matters because failure is always an option. You can't win if you can't lose, can you?

To the op

Rule of thumb if you enjoy playing the game and can be influenced by others, then don't read general forums, that usually goes for all MMOs.

When Sony had all of it's security concerns and shut down all operations I had been playing Star Wars Galaxies. I went looking for a different MMO. I came across Eve, reading about it I was thrilled, in my mind formed images of Starflight in an MMO.

I have never in my life seen a more dishearted group of customers in my life. I've been playing MMOs since 2001, there are always issues. In Eve you have a minority of players that essentially dictate how the majority players. This minority deprives the majority access to many of what should be fun content. This same minority apparently has as their goal to drive the minority out of the game entirely by doing everything in their power to grief "highsec" players. For some reason this minority feels that highsec players have no right to enjoy their online time.

This is a group of people that feel killing a new player in his Navitus garners them the same honor as killing a well fit well flown Megathron.

I think the best example of childishness aimed at me was being called a ***** because I wouldn't fight a veteran player (whom I did not know) in his Hurricane with my T1 equipped Punisher Frigate. The next day I watched this same person in his hurricane fight Hyperion to the point the Hyperion has to warp out to survive.

Eve could attract many thousands of new players that stay were these nasty gankers, griefers, sadists denied their tools for torturing other players, particularly new ones.

My four accounts are insignificant but how many other have left silently.

Whilst I agree there are a lot of dicks in eve, the actions that you describe in terms of some people denying content to other people are seen by many, if not most, players as actually constituting the content the sets eve apart from other games. CCP provides a framework and some (frequently very poor) content for the game. The player interactions provide the real, high-quality content, painful or irritating as it may frequently be.

There are two types of EVE player:

those who believe there are two types of EVE player and those who do not.

I don't think I said anywhere that I was griefed. I got called names several times but that's just another part of Eve's culture.
