When I started playing EVE there where mines every where, so shut up son and get on board with the big dogs

There's a reason why those were removed, if you're unable to understand it no one can help you and you.
Go ahead and keep insulting/refusing arguments from whoever is not agreeing with your bad idea, doesn't makes you or your arguments to bring them back any better, just sillier.

They was removed for the lag, the old servers couldn't handily them, the new servers should be able to.

And dropping too many cans causes lag too. Also can you prove that's the only reason? Because off grid pvp is a terrible idea.

Simple really.

Make them explode with proximity to anything! And give them a despawn timers like jetcans (max 2 hours or whatever) so you can't afk kill everything!

I want mines!!!

I like this idea. Make the mines magnetic, therefore any mines laid next to the gate, hit the gate and the pilot gets concorded, problem solved.

I think this is a really bad idea. In a few years when goons control all of EvE little goon kids are going to be having limbs blown off finding or stumbling upon old abandoned mines, for what? A war noone remembers? Clearing old mines is harder snd more expensive than you think and the people who deploy them certainly wont fo it.

Last time i checked we were in space. and almost every thing I know from tv and movies is that space has mine fields.

Give us mine fields.

Good post OP... actually a good idea.

kinda like bubble but instead of stopping you it damages you.

I vote YES

People who would come to kill you in your system would be pvpers who would by default adopt and avoid the mines.

You on the other hand are mainly a carebear and would stpe on your own corp/ally mines all the bloody time resulting in many tears.

You should really reconsider...

Stop being risk adverse and pvp on grid.

Nevermind. In my drunken stupor I thought this thread was about bringing back MIMES.

EvE is supposed to suck.  Wait . . . what was the question?

It is more of a request from the fans of Mines, to have CCP bring back mines to the game and a few crying folks that don't want them. Me personally I think It would be great to have mines and putting focus on having to us Covert Ops ships to scout out mines. As for the lag mines us to bring if they are cloaked mines and only ships that can see them would be covert ops/mine sniffing ships that would cut down on the lag for fleets not so much for the covert guys lol

That might help cut down on some client-side performance issues for some people, but I don't see how it could possibly cut down on any server-side performance issues that would affect everyone given that the game will be constantly checking to determine which ships in range of the mines are able to view them and which aren't as well as all the calculations associated with whether or not the mines should blow up, decloak, or what have you.

A simple IF statement should handle that issue

IF (Covert Ops = True show Mines)
IF (Non Covert ship = No show Mines)

How does that help with dozens if not hundreds or even thousands of mines per gate around hundreds of gates pinging their surrounding area ever couple seconds to see if they need to blow up or not?

to address that make it so you cant drop mines on gate grids or towers / kind of like how you cant drop bombs in empire us the same scripts but change it for gate grids and POS's

If they can make mines work in an interesting and fun way then I'd be for mines coming back into the game.

YES cloaked, self-replicating minefields off doom, make it so that only a concentrated anti-tachyion beam from a large station can disable it-

wait that sounds strangely familiar but I cannot place it at the moment...

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

If you really can't then it is Deep Space Nine 9 last two episodes of season five and the first six of season six. The first Dominion War arc.
