Not sure about every one else but, now that the servers have been upgrade for EVE now would be a great time to bring back Mines to the game!

Ya where are our mine fields to protect us from people in our 0.0 and lowsec sysetms.

Last time i checked we were in space. and almost every thing I know from tv and movies is that space has mine fields.

Give us mine fields.

Good post OP... actually a good idea.

kinda like bubble but instead of stopping you it damages you.

Once they make the servers so that they will never go into TiDi then they can think about mines.

I think mine fields would be abused to oblivion. It's allready hard to pass some bottlenecks, with mines it would just be impossible. They would have to find a pretty good mecanic if they implement something like that again.

And imagine what happens when a big alliance like Goonswarm calls out for "Mine-Week-Fun". Than they REALLY have to release "walking in stations", because that will be the only thing you do... ;)

I actually like this concept, but I have to also agree with some of the responses. Maybe restrict them to something like requiring them to be tethered to something a player controls (such as a POS) or the launchers ship itself. Or have them possess a short lifespan then autodestruct (Angelina Jolie Clause), or have them able to be disabled via an EWAR mechanism. Also they could be flagged so that if laid at a station or gate, the layer of said mines could be CONCORDed.

Yes, that would work in some cases. But every drag bubble will be loaded with mines which insta-pop you without a chance to fight back. I'm sure that would not add much fun to the game. If you want to kill someone's ship, you should have to do it, not a minefield. It would make much aspects of eve pvp even more static than it allready is.

Don't take me wrong, as a SciFi fan, i would love to see minefields in eve. As a player, i'm not so sure about it. At least till someone comes up with a good mechanic to implement it Blink

Maybe make them hostile to everyone, not only the non corp, alliance members, but after being deployed they react to anything.

Also a counter could be a implemented via module that can disarm them, or even create a shield around you that neutralizes them or makes them not react to you.

Their longitude should be around I recon 12h.

In order to prevent goon "place a mine day" make them low and null sec exclusive, or even in wh space since many of them already ultra abuse the container decloak strategies. Big smile

Just my 2 little cents.. Big smile

Or worse... player deployable automatic sentry guns like in X3. Or in EvE turns, autonomous sentry drones that can be left in place all day with fire orders based on standings mechanics.

I like mine better there cheap they do nice dmg and you don't have to come back for them, but you may have to put more out and hope there not waiting for you when you show up to put them out.

Simple really.

Make them explode with proximity to anything! And give them a despawn timers like jetcans (max 2 hours or whatever) so you can't afk kill everything!

I want mines!!!

That is the Way, the Tao.

Balance is everything.

Honestly not a fan. Largely because flying a ship in EVE is far too clumsy to begin with. Say you ran into a mined area. You really don't have the detailed flight control that would be necessary to fly through safely.
