Socket Error Disconnection since server reboot

hi,
my program was working fine until the server reboot today. I then couldn't get the program to load so downloaded the patch (6gb) linked on this forum. after trying numerous steam options (disconnecting the quick start (bottom right of windows on toolbar) bootup icon steam, logging in from the eve shortcut, starting from within steam), I eventually managed to get it working again. however I am still suffering from the socket error disconnections after a while. is there a solution?
