are All eve-mac clients automatical from steam??

hi there guys.
im playing eve for a few weeks now on macbook .
i downloaded the game from the eveonline official homepage( NOT from steam ore anything like that crap), so now i got the problem that the client wont start anymore after i dowlnloadet a little patch today( 20 mb).

i allready read in forum, that mac clients based on steam payment wont work since today, ok ...i DONT have steam or something like that. i dont pay via steam and never did/will.
but my mac client wont start anyways.
im kinda pissed right now cause its the second time in 3 weeks of playing eve, that i cant play the game due to some problems with client or ccp getting hacked :).
and if i have to redownload eve again...i will leave, cause i dont have the best connection and 12gb take complete 2-3 days.

ok , before i got really mad, i tried to start the client from the apps folder, not with my desktop symbol...and IT WORKED :D.

seemed to be a problem with that little 20 mb patch, i guess its just a patch for steam-mac-client users, so it bypassed the starting window ( with the yellow "start" button) and got me always directly to the login screen, which didnt work because of that little patch. but with starting eve via the app folder it works again, and im happy :)
