Absolution or Legion for L4's

You are able to fly navy omen, harbinger, navy harbinger, absolution, phantasm(caldari cruiser III?), ashimmu(minmatar cruiser III?).

You can pull L3 or L4.

Main advantage of the ships is speed. Disadvantage is applied dps and heavy issues with sansha and blood ewar (bad applied dps gets horribad when disrupted, lack of dps makes neuting an issue). This leads to the most viable solution to be blitzing the missions without stopping to kill rats unnecessarily.

For this purpose, running level4 is much preferred whenever you can because of reward/completiontime. You want a ship that's able to hit and run them as well as kill triggers under fire. Absolution works best with what you can do today IMHO.

It's quite fun doing it with another buddy and eventually have remote reps (spider tank), 2 marauders can clean lvl4's so fats it largely compensates for the spread of rewards + you can salvage while shooting.

Marauders have needed a new bonus in place of the tractor beam since the Noctis was put in the game. Either boost the damage or give it a bonus like the Noctis.

edit: and to the above poster: The Phantasm and ashimmu are god awful at everything. The ashimmu has some use in PvP, but it costs way too much to be used in 99% of the cases.

Sorry in advance for lumping all my replies into one post (and for them being chronologically out of order).

Cs5 but can't fly a legion or a zealot. Only 670dps with Cs5. Really? Sad.

Train for a nightmare for lv4. The abso doesn't have any range at all for pve.

That's not including drones, with only two heatsinks, and two tank rigs, cause I'd rather be overtanked while still getting used to all the level 4's, and when I'm more comfortable I'll swap things around to get some more gank out of it. After doing that, and including drones (T2 hobgobs), I'll be at 900 dps with conflags, which I know is still not perfect, but hopefully less "sad" to you.

And I do certainly understand the range thing, considering that has been the entire point of me making this thread.

Skip level 4's, blitz level 3's.

I tried that, actually, and my Abso was actually blitzing level 3's very nicely with an MWD/2 tracking computer fit. But even doing that, it still wasn't as good income as level 4's even when being very overtanked.

I do have a friend who is training up for a Mach right now, with the eventual plan being that I'd fly my Abso and focus on taking out cruisers/frigs while adding a warfare link boost, leaving him to wreak havoc on the battleships. But we won't get to fly together all the time, of course.

helpful comparison of apoc/abbadon

Thanks! If for whatever reason this character decides to move up to battleships, it would most likely be in the navy apoc. I imagine the extra goodies from it over T1 apoc are worth far more than the cost difference (250m). Just throwing some basic things around in EFT, 3 faction heat sinks are equal dps to 4 T2 heat sinks, making that extra low slot alone worth at least 180m of pimp. And that leaves all the extra things like 50% more hp, better mobility, better targetting stats, more fitting, more drones all only costing an extra ~70m over the regular version. Definitely worth every penny.

I'm a bit of a freak, I enjoy doing missions and worse I prefer doing them in an absolution even though I can fly a T2 fit Paladin. It's slower and earns less isk but I find it more fun and engaging.

I've soloed every lvl4 in an absolution and found that beams work a lot better than pulses, change the nano rigs to capacitors and the cap boost to a cap recharger and you should be able to almost perma run guns/ab/repper with a couple of heat sinks.

If you don't have T2 drones train for them, it helps, a lot.

PS, forgot to mention for Enemies Abound 5 of 5 you need to swop out the ab for a mwd & third HS or you will end up in a world of hurt.

If you prime fun over isk/h take whatever you want and go for it. Unfortunately in this game more than many I've played before you have tons of dudes that can't say a single phrase without isk/h and convert in real money, true psycho nerds.

If you feel good doing it in your Paladin just do it and forget all the nerds with their stupid isk/h, a game is meant to have fun per hour not isk per hour or second/full job.

You're the one doing it right.

Well, I decided to stick to the Absolution and more than happy with it, and I actually ended up settling on dual prop. Using the MWD to burn onto targets quickly solves the range problems of using pulse, also makes getting around the battlefield in general faster. And then the afterburner when I'm on top of them for speed tank and range control. With CCC's/cap recharger, it can pretty much perma run any two of guns, repper, MWD. Although atm I'm back to using the cap booster to eat through the massive amount of charges I still have, with a nano pump and a newly trained burst aerator II. I've also started doing incursions, which I have to say feels a lot more fun and relaxing to me than level 4's, while also making much better profit.

I think why you see so many people look at isk/h is because of the presence of PLEX. From one end, the fact that this game has a sanctioned, supported, reliable way to basically buy in-game money with real world money means that everything you make and lose in-game can feel like it's value can be applied as real world gains and losses, and no. The other end, being able to pay your normally real-world money subscription through PLEX means that by the time you're able to support your subscription through in-game methods (L4's, incursions, mining fleets) can make it feel like that first 550m is more like a job than just playing (still a rather fun job), and by maximising isk/h you can get through that initial 550m as fast as possible and spend the rest of the month increasing your assets and just having fun.

I make only this 15 dollars per month. So you can fly a kite.

Command ships (together with AHACs and other T2 hulls) are utilized in PvE mainly for flavor reasons. The end-all be may always be a shiny T3 or a faction/pirate BS, but more choice and experimentation is always good, at least for me that is...

If you really want to use an Absolution, here are some loadouts that may help:

[Absolution, Sing for (L3) Absolution]
Tracking Enhancer II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Medium Armor Repairer II
Armor EM Hardener II
Armor Thermic Hardener II
Imperial Navy Heat Sink

Tracking Computer II
Tracking Computer II
10MN Afterburner II

Heavy Beam Laser II
Heavy Beam Laser II
Heavy Beam Laser II
Heavy Beam Laser II
Heavy Beam Laser II
Small Tractor Beam II
Salvager II

Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Medium Energy Collision Accelerator II

Hobgoblin II x5

The above Sansha variant will give you close to a thousand hot DPS @20+15 and will comfortably blitz any L3 in existence.

For L4s in an Absolution, you need sth like the following:

[Absolution, Sing for (L4) Absolution]

Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Core C-Type Armor Thermic Hardener
Core C-Type Armor EM Hardener
Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Corpum C-Type Medium Armor Repairer

Federation Navy Stasis Webifier
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script
10MN Afterburner II

Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Small Tractor Beam II
Salvager II

Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Medium Energy Collision Accelerator II

Hobgoblin II x5

The above Sansha variant does a little more DPS, has a little less range and tanks L4s comfortably. It is as fast as an equivalently pimped Legion in the difficulty level at hand (has more DPS and drones but gets less range and sig tanks worse), but by this time it would be better to go for a BS anyway if mission efficiency matters for you.

You can even use an Absolution for C1/2/3 WH sites. It will comfortably solo C1 and C2, and can do C3 either in a pair (command ships get two utility highs that can be successfully used for cap and armor spider tanking) or even solo if you put some money into it. An example for solo C3 (tested in sites like this and holds true) :

[Absolution, Sing for C3 Absolution]

Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Corpum C-Type Medium Armor Repairer
Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Corpum B-Type Energized Thermic Membrane

Medium Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 800
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script
10MN Afterburner II

Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Core Probe Launcher II, Sisters Core Scanner Probe
Salvager II

Medium Nanobot Accelerator II
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II

Hobgoblin II x5

Is it as efficient as other hulls? Hell no! But its fun to fly and colorful, to say the least...XD

A bit of pimp here&there and your Legion/Abso will be dealing about same dps, both are great ships but Legion looks really awesome, I'd go with Legion before it gets nerf to useless.
