Remove insurance as a NPC policy completely.

Power to the player. I'd love to run the EVE insurance company Big smile

Its honestly quite laughable, and stinks of rank hypocrisy, that the 'suicide gankers' whining about the *possibility* of removal of insurance when Concorde is on the killmail, will also be the first (in all other circumstances) to loudly proclaim 'don't fly what you can't afford to lose'.

Well guess what champs, don't fly what you can't afford to lose Roll

funny thing you should say that. I'm an industrialist. I've stated so over most of my posts. I've also shared various ways in which people would cease to be likely targets. I've also stated time and time again that the suicide gankers (outside hulkageddon season) almost always pick out targets that are equipped with deadspace/faction/officer modules that more than pay for their entire ship and fittings while still allowing for them to make a profit. the removal of the insurance won't do anything. The pilot of this kill mail http://behold.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10817099 was autopiloting afk in a war dec. why would anyone do that? and I know, it has nothing to do with suicide ganking in and of itself, however the mentality to fly autopiloted in a war dec with that type of fit proves that there are people who deserve to get suicide ganked. I mean, if he flies fitted ships like that in a war dec on autopilot, what's he going to equip his ship with outside a war dec? he's flying with 2 modules worth about or more than 400 mil a piece, plus he's using a 25 mil isk medium shield extender where a meta 4 or t2 would have worked fine.

let me pull up an actual suicide ganked ship worth tens of billions.... one sec.

and before you say 'but it isn't api verified' I'll link another.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=11206514

that one's api verified. but let's go further and link some more fits that more than pay for the ships and modules lost by suicide gankers!

wait a second, that was another gank on Solarius.... hm... either he didn't learn the first time, or he understands the risks and actually does fly what he can afford to lose... let's continue.

see, even the German high command cries about people doing things CCP allows and states is a part of the game and then sulks back to WoW ... oops, wrong channel.

Where are they taking the hobbits?

ok ok, so not completely end it - but - it dissuades it.

I was against concorde, wt0 and all the other (in my opinion) dumb mechanics that have continued to make high sec (and in the case of Wt0 - low sec) safe. And this high sec = safe sec mentality and reality (for those who don't afk) has caused massive inflation and devalued isk in general.

that is my opinion as a bitter vet.

If I jump out of an alley in empire, smack you in the head with a 6 foot 2x4 with 3 big rusty nails in the end, pierce your scull and stir up your brains, rifle thru your pockets and take your stuff, then walk away richer and leave you for dead.. that’s Eve.. welcome to it.. now bend over.

If I do the same thing but during the skull piercing thing, I snap my 2x4 whilst stirring your brains.. and you still die and I still get your stuff, and I still get richer.. then I file a broken 2x4 claim with my insurance company by filling out the broken weapon claim in triplicate and attaching a photo of said broken weapon.. I then get compensated for the cost of my 2x4 with a freshly cut 2x4 with 3 shiny new nails in the end.. that is simply herp durpery on the part of the gods of Eve

Does it change the outcome? No.
But you fight like an accountant.

What it does is reflect poorly on a game that is already in need of new blood.

Sometimes it’s the little things.
Buy your own 2x4 you cheap bastard.

Be nice. If nice not work, be civil. If civil not work, beat with iron pipe till bloody and still.

What a great post!

“You fight like an accountant” – Why Reislier, you say that like it’s a baaaad thing Blink

Just to be clear, when I fill out my insurance claim form in triplicate I explain in full candor that my 2X4 couldn’t withstand withering, fully justified, Concord police weapons fire – Pend still pays Big smile

“What it does is reflect poorly on a game that is already in need of new blood” – Now we’re getting somewhere:
Risk averse carebear noobs probably dislike what insurance incentivizes – losing their expensive boats and/or cargo.
PvP centric noobs probably like what insurance provides – cheap ship replacement while they learn the ropes.
Filthy rich suicide gankers probably don’t much care but the fighting accountants among us are happy to utilize the mechanic if it’s there to be plucked.

I can’t speak for others but I will say that if CCP caters too much to the risk averse the EvE universe will begin to feel much different from the EvE I’m used to.

That is a hilarious analogy. May not agree with the point, but I like it anyway.
