I've been playing for just over a year and I have to admit I'm feeling this too. Here's what I've noticed so far that's changed. The log in screen, major impact to me. Along with the login screen was the ominous music that used to go along with it. (Yeah I play with sound because it adds to the experience). And the biggest thing in my oppinion is Aura. The first time I logged on to eve I heard the "connecting" sound and got chills down my spine. It make me stop and go "wow this is awesome!" Then I started the broken tutorials and she talked to me the whole time! It was amazing! Even if it was not completely correct.

So yah, as a slightly over 1 year player I am already having some major nastalgia for awesome things of the past. Jump effects will never take the place of the loading screen or aura. Bring those back!!!!

You appear to have someone's stupid idea sticking out of your eye Blink

It's actually the brain button. Designed to coalesce a sparse collection of neurons and perpetuate/stimulate short bursts of minimalistic thought. As you have observed his is defective and works better at tuning in EVE Radio.

I completely agree. It may seem like a small thing, but the little things matter.

I'm a fairly new player...I saw the login screen exactly one time before they took it away. Despite being a new player, I still miss it. Every single time I log in I think wishfully about the brief moment of excitement I had with the previous login screen before it went away.

It was inspiring...it inspired me to play the game. Then it inspired me to come back and play again.

For a new player, it was a glimpse of what lay ahead.

I cannot imagine the series of design discussions that led to the decision to abandon the login screen, but whoever made that decision made a mistake and EVE is a lesser place for it.

agree, i started in 2009 and it was dominion (i think?) and when that screen hit the first couple months I was playing I felt really connected and engaged in the kickass space game where I could do whatever the hell i wanted and blow stuff up.

i still get chills every time i hear the first few chords of that intro music. And all the ones since then have been pretty good too, new tune, but similar theme that really excites you to start playing. the silent intro is what kills me the most - the pictures were nice, but the music was kickass

Or is CCP desiring to cater to the dumbest player and making sure he or she will not feel offended and thus making everything "sterile"?

Well, it certainly made Blizzard rich...
