Doubling jump ranges is fine... so long as CCP doubles the amount of isotopes needed for jump fuel and doubles the amount of liquid ozone to generate that cyno, etc...

Adds a little extra sense of urgency to mining those ice anoms every day, and you know CCP already wants that. Twisted

Just make warp speed actually matter even at short ranges (yes, yes, I know the code is such a mess that no-one understands it, but still…), and then slash it by half across the board.

As usual you have no clue about the game.

Large fights happen because we can get there in time. With faster response ability and adequate supplies more will happen and thus; more news coverage. It will be better for game and you will enjoy it more.


clearly you have no idea what you're talking about and in fact jump drives allowing alliances to cross the galaxy in just a few min has been a major problem since their creation. jump drives have been a pretty big part of allowing these super coalitions to form and continue to exist

Your kind talk about it implying there is a problem.

Isotopes used already scales with distance so this is a nonissue. With the removal of static ice belts, the cost of liquid ozone is already increasing in price. So again, a nonissue. The balance is already there.

That would be idiotic, a slap in the face to a true fan base, this game offers something that most space related combat sim's don't, that is scale and vastness a rare immersion that comes in even quality games, you double speeds you take part of that feeling out, knowing that your ship can only go so fast to reach a very far distance allows the player to feel small in a vast world, that's a very impressive feature.

You should be able to give the warp core more power through the use of capacitor injection. Burn all of your cap in a warp and you will warp across the solar system at jumpgate speeds. So basically it would be a teleport, that is only usable in solar system levels and drains all of your cap. But it might allow you to snag that expensive prey if you happened to pick the same destination or outrun a pursuing enemy. Also it would only be actionable if you are at 95% cap or higher.

Not sure about vastness of it one need to take effort to find system that is not visited on hourly base 99% systems in new eden (excluding jove)is visited on hourly base..and while you can toss out few points due to game mechanic and travel times EVE to me feels more like a cage than representation of vastness of space!

Space is vast eve is gated box that can be crossed fast.

How does that dumb down the game? It makes power projection increasingly more expensive, at the least it would slow power projection down, and make those trying a series of smaller jumps vulnerable to counter attack.

No. I'm trying to be clever and sneak in a bit of balance combined with a bit of thinking, thus smartening the game up by offering you an important tactical and strategical choice to make.

What if fuel consumption was simply [distance in AU]² percent of your full fuel bay capacity? Do you want to jump 10 AU and burn 100% of the fuel your ship can carry, making it a one-way trip? Do you instead want to make it ten 1-AU jumps, eating up only 10% of your fuel capacity in the process, but requiring a good chain and a bit more time? Can you bring along enough fuel for the entire fleet so they can jump back 10 AU, meaning you can strike really deep into enemy territory? What happens if you bring along a JF with fuel for everyone and it is found and shot to pieces? Can you keep your jump route safe to do the low-fuel option and basically lap the entire galaxy four times over on one tank?

The only way to dumb down linear cost would be to make it a fixed cost regardless of distance.
