Does CCP hate the capsule?

I personally love our capsules! They're a large part of the immersion, for me Big smile.

It would actually ruin it for me if we were able to walk around in our ships, because I like the idea that capsuleers sort of become their ships while they're piloting them.

Also, it makes more sense to me that they are plugged in, and surrounded by goo, and in a capsule, because it feels like each capsuleer has more layers of protection that way? :P

I don't know... I just love capsule the way they are now, and I don't want to see anything change Big smile.

Hey, I was going to wait for someone to mention this but it's taking too long. According to The Empyrian Age, we can either walk around the ship during down time or we can stay in our protective pods depending on what sort of ship we have. From The Empyrian Age:

"Bristling with salvage equipment and deep-space scanning arrays, the Significance was the only ship of its kind in the Amarr military. At more than twice the cost of a carrier, it was a 'cross-capsule variant' starship: although captained by a pod pilot, the ship was equipped with an internal pod gantry, allowing the pilot to be extracted and leaving him free to roam its structure."

At the time of book, the cross-capsule variant was very rare but who's to say that it doesn't become cheap and common at some point in the future?

Anyway, I also want to mention that the pod is also for our safety from our possibly unknown crew. If they try to open our pods to exact some sort of revenge on our narcissistic selves then the pod kills us and they are stuck in a ship without a pilot to fly them home. Although, it's interesting to note that.... SPOILER

when the jove drone infiltrated the Significance he/it was able to extract the pilot from his pod without killing him... this could indicate that their is a vulnerability with the cross-capsule variant starships.

The capsule is still very much loved here at CCP.

The fast transition to captain's quarters is simply for game design reasons, and the use of the UI in the EVE Online: Origins trailer is to stylize it so that it's easily understandable by a wider audience that doesn't need to read 20 technical articles to understand a three second part of the trailer.

You're all still capsuleers, you're all still bathed in goo, and you're all still going to need a shower when you disembark.

Is this why I lag for 3 minutes when I hit my CQ Button?

I like your sense of immersion... Pirate
