CCP please keep the jump animation!

To my understanding people are not asking ccp to remove it, but give them option to disable it from their client.

Some people do get motion sickness. Witch should have come up in testing phase, but we all know CCP development and testing protocols don't really work well. Specially the testing part seems to fail quite often and easy to detect bugs gets into production environment.

We were recruiting.

People said the exact same thing about the warp effect when that first came out.

No one is asking to take it off. People are askign for an OPTION. ( you can understand the concept of OPTION right?) to turn it off.

A lof of poeple are simply throwing up their stomachs, LITERALLY after several jumps. And that is a VERY VERY detrimental thing to the enjoyment of a game. It is usually much harder to enjoy the beuty of the graphics when your monitor is covered by your lunch.

You get used to it after awhile. Reminds me of laserium shows, where it takes a few concerts before you get used to it..

A toggle would be good though to keep a wider audience.

I can see how it would happen, I for example can't play things like Penumbra: Overture because of it's "immersive" head bobbing and habit of throwing you (the camera,) all over the place during cutscenes. I consider that no small blessing though because from what I saw that game was ****.

I also have a friend who gets motion sickness from nearly any first person game, which is a shame because he's a cool guy and I don't get to play nearly enough stuff with him.

No problems with the jump effect myself, but just calling people who say they do liars and mocking them is somewhat childish and ignorant.

Funny, how there are multiple threads with hundreds of posts against it and just this one with barely 2 pages, and half of them not even supporting to keep it (me included). Shows really how appreciated they are.

I am an athlete and can train my vertigo problems to an extend and have none on a plane, some on a ship (only under deck) but I am extremely sensitive to light which prevents me from ever entering a dance club (not that I would go there anyway) and suing certain features or skills in games or I will not only vomit, I even start to faint and loose consciousness.

Now, I might be an extreme, but if somebody claims he has serious problems with this I am inclined to believe them and not take it as mere whining of 'what the farmer doesn't know...'

But beside this, I think the new animations are beautiful and help to immerse oneself in the universe, if used appropriately and to a limited amount. Meaning options need to be there, to turn it on/off, cancel/interrupt it or restrict it to certain areas, like the automated overlay scan to rookie systems.

If people are bothered (even physically) by them, the implementation is a fail.

If people are getting annoyed over time by them, the implementation is a fail.

If people are getting bored or by them or completely ignore them due to the habit of constant bombardment , the implementation is a fail.

When people are looking forward to see them, the implementation is a success.

When people are excited experiencing them, the implementation is a success.

And only by player handled regulations can one be prevented and the other achieved.

More then 5 cent from me here.

Best of flying to you all.

You may be right, but it's funny how I didn't need to see a doctor to play Eve before Tuesday.

All the more reason to go see one.

Something is clearly not right with you if this is setting you off.

Look at it this way: since I don't get this problem anywhere else in my day to day life, think of all the money I can save by not going to a doctor and just keeping my sub cancelled until they allow us to shut this jump effect off. It's a win/win scenario for me either way. \o/

That's because people that have a complaint speak out more than those that are happy - this has all ready been proven. If you want your button to turn off the animation - fine, just don't have CCP remove it.

My suggestion for the time being is to open the market window or look away from the screen while jumping - if it makes you that sick.

I love the new jump animation

People that dislike it or complain are trolling or would just rather play Microsoft Excel with an Eve Mod.

it's not long enough to cause motion sickness anyhow. Even the longest jumps the animation only lasts for a couple seconds...

if it lasts longer than 2 or 3 seconds you need to upgrade your pc or get a solid state hard drive or something.

the jump animation lasts about 2 and half seconds for me and it's awesome.

Way to prove that you have no idea what you are talking about, on all fronts you tried. SSHD? Seriously? My grandmother knows more about computers than you do.

I don't even notice the jump animation anymore. It used to be way worse when it was first introduced on Sisi. Like a roller coaster ride and i don't even get motion sickness.

That said an option to replace it with black screen for people who still get physically sick from it would hurt nobody.

Options are good.

I agree that adding them (like the Station Ship Hanger or CQ) doesn't break the experience for those of us that adore this new smooth and seamless experience.

Perhaps read this advice http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sitting/AN02082 ?

I'm not an expert, but I *do* have to sit through talks about this stuff for work every year and sign off that I actually paid attention.

Playing computer games for more than an hour = will affect your health but who knows exactly how each person will be affected.

all where asking for is the option to turn it off, like captains quarters.

honestly i am tired of eves shet over the past 7 years, every year i have to complain when they release an expac i have played plenty of mmo that release expacs that are enjoyable wtf is wrong with ccp ?

it seems nerf and expansion are the same word to ccp.

I dont understand the resistance to having an optional checkbox for turning off animations.

I mean, wouldnt you have loved a checkbox for the Universal Inventory that read "emulate old Inventory" ?

Wouldn't you like a checkbox to turn off the clouds?
Wouldn't you have liked a checkbox to turn off the CQ?

We dont need a check box because people are telling lies.

Since I do not live in the bodies of everyone complaining, I can't say that you are wrong, for a lot of people. That being said, I went from playing Eve about five to eight hours per day before Tuesday, to the few minutes that it took me to make three gate jumps, get ill, make the three jumps back to station while looking away, and dock up. Haven't logged in since, and cancelled sub when I found that there was no option to kill the animation. I assure you, if I were lying, I'd still be playing whilst complaining about it. Though you don't have access to the information to verify my claim, CCP does, and that's all that matters.

See a doctor, you have bigger issues.

Would someone from CCP immediately Moderate this clown here. Some people are just too dumb .. sigh!

And to answer the OP. I also do not want to remove the animation. I just wish I get a chance to turn it off, that's it. Some may like it and only good for them but there are also some who do not like it and not only that but some have even health problems with it.

Source? Or is this just a made up internet statistic?

Seems like a disproportionately high value for an obscure side effect.

I also really like it (although I wish you had left the ability to turn it off for those poor bastards who are getting motion sickness) but it seems to me that system load takes longer now.

That's like saying soldiers without hands should see a doctor about their hand problem and/or stop playing computer games. You know, instead of people investing time in developing new input methods such as mind control.

Not everybody is fortunate enough to be able to see a doctor. 15% of Americans are uninsured for various reasons, others cant afford it for other reasons. Healthcare is a broken system in several other countries too.
