3rd, 4th and 5th easily.

this is objectively incorrect, as demonstrated through the unbiased system that permitted anyone in eve to read the stories and vote upon them

Look guys, I'm not contending that what happened with the BoB disbanding wasn't important in the development of EvE. That would be lunacy. What I'm saying is that the story was not actually very well written. It was a brief (not entirely well written) summary of the events that was upvoted by everyone involved on the victors side; both those who were actually there and remember what happened, and those who have since joined and see it as part of their heritage. Those people are voting more based on the countless other stories that they have heard surrounding the events, rather than that specific one.

Mitten's own writings for Ten Ton Hammer were technically way better stories. They were engaging in a way that this one simply wasn't.

if they were better they'd be #1, #2 and #3

That doesn't mean that they weren't better than the ones in #1 and #2. It just means that fewer people voted for them.

Or rather, that more people voted for the stories that came in 1st and 2nd.

Quelle surprise.

This contest was designed for large alliances to be won by. It was known from the very beginning that Goons (Mittani) will win the 1st place and the stories (good or bad) from the other major alliances will get the top 20. No matter how good your story was, if you were not an important member of a large alliance you didn't stand a chance.

those stories are why we are a "major alliance" - they demonstrably have more of an impact on the eve narrative than a story about some dude's pos

You don't get it, do you? It is not about how good or bad the stories were or the impact those had in EVE history, it is about equal chances for all contest participants.

Consider our collective voting power. Now look at how many votes those stories actually received, look how low the number is considering our collective voting power. Everyone had plenty of chance to downvote our stories & upvote the ones they liked but surprise surprise, they didn't bother which is hilarious considering that very few of us bothered with it.

Angeliq is right a poorly written story about an odd irrelevant killmail should have been first place not any of these "interesting" stories about "significant" events

Well, in ten years time, the way this "competition" was handled is going to make a swell entry in the competition at that time

yeah it's so unfair of CCP to run a competition where anybody who plays eve can vote for the best stories, and the best stories win isn't it

You mean the story about how people could've pushed the 2 winning entries right off the top 5 but didn't due to apathy, then complained about how unfair the system was because they didn't bother voting? Yeah that's going to be an awesome story, I can't wait.

Block voting by Goonswarm was only launched to counter an organised effort to downvote both Mittens' and xttz's submissions.

You mean the tiny amount of people here moaning about the result could have effected it by voting differently? I think it explains why the outcome became as it is; a good example of a self-fulfilling prophesy.

I am btw. perfectly fine with the result. I did not submit any stories and did vote on some of the stories that made it into the top 5. But calling the outcome of this competition any kind of unexpected is pushing the limit on how purposely ignorant one can be.

I too get mad at a voting system where everyone has an equal voice regardless of what demographic they are part of.

CCP can we just have biased voting mechanic now, clearly this "fair" system you use is not helping further my own personal goals.
