Same problem but something else of interest regarding it:
The probe spheres appeared as normal for about the first half hour of gameplay, then upon entering another system, they no longer appeared. The strange thing is that they appear fine on another account I have. Same mac, same client, just different account.

Have tried:
-clearing cache
-resetting settings
-all graphics settings
-different ships
-different systems

Nothing working so far, and can't understand why two different accounts on same mac would have different results but it may help identify the problem.

Sys specs:

I noticed some strange behaviour too. after resetting everything the probes showed, then I loaded my overview settings. puff gone. so I reseted again. but this time reset had no effect. maybe the overview loading had no effect and it was some time based issue too.

Any updates on the topic? are we going to get som reimbursment for not being able to participate in the exploration game? Exploration was my main income source. Now I'm crippled. Give us at least a status or timeline!

I am having this issue as well. Tried resetting settings and various different graphics settings but nothing helps. Makes exploration almost unplayable.

Just bumping this again, very excited to keep doing the explo sites and hoping for a fix. I have since noticed strange issues as well, probes were visible for about 10 secs. as soon as i tried to move them they disappear again, and couldn't seem to get them back. Very odd behavior, but this is crippling, cant navigate the map because its very difficult to orient yourself/probes without the ability to see them.

Here's an interesting data point. This morning, without me changing any settings, it was working correctly. I scanned down a couple of sites then left for work. This afternoon, again without changing any settings, it is again broken. So whatever it is, at least in my case, it's not directly linked to turning up or down or on or off a graphic setting.

Bump.

I'm working around it for now with dexterous guesswork - but it's clunky and hit and miss. I can only work with the two preset formations and can tell when my mouse is in the right place to resize by the cursor changing - I keep an eye on the range displayed in the table for reference. I CAN see the probe range when they're scanning (that animation is normal for me) it's only the ambient state that has no visual indicator, all I see is the move/handle tool (just the one, for the formation). So using a combo of all these things I can scan things down, but I feel pretty disadvantaged.

One interesting quirk is that when resizing the probes, the overlay that normally displays (with the boundaries of each range) is way off center and doesn't really provide any visual clue as to what range you're setting - it's just like a big image moving around with no real relevance to the task at hand.

Definitely a few graphical problems at play here, not just one minor display glitch.

I'm on a late 08 MacBook. Been broken since odyssey landed. Latest version of OSX.

Funny how the new exploration expansion stripped me of exploration options.

Update: Logged on Friday June 7th: no problems with probes, everything worked fine for entire day. Logged on today, Saturday June 8th: probes no longer working. Nothing has been changed on my end. I had assumed that CCP had made some adjustments but maybe not? Need some resolution to this problem please, or at least let us know what is being done.

Yea it's not really acceptable to be honest - it's pretty game breaking.

I also had a hard time tracking this post down, I imagine this thread isn't very representative of the size of the issue - is it maybe a mac-wide bug?

I've started having the same issue beginning from June 6th; on June 5th everything was working normally yet.

They're there, it's not a graphical issue in that the computer is incapable of rendering them. They are however very faint and the entirely wrong size. There game 'object' is there, since you can move them and resize their radius, it's just not showing correctly. When you press scan they show up correctly for a very short time (<1/5th second) and then go back to them again. Trying to explain how it looks, it looks like they're rendering in the background of the map view and way out of size.

Described better than me, but that's a good summary.

Any update from a dev??

This issue is really strange.

The last four times I have logged in it has worked twice and not worked twice.

Same setting, same character, same ship, same bloody everything.

Trying to pinpoint what the issue is incredibly frustrating.

Would be nice to hear from CCP how they are going working on the issue!!!

EDIT: I might add that scanning down things without the bubbles takes a LOT longer and is a LOT more frustrating
