But no one mentioned about ccp taking deep space probes from expirieced players and not giving anything back, if you never used dsp you will probably not know what im writing about. Now we need to scan all signatures even ****** ones to find out there is nothing interesting for us. DSP reduced that time from 30% to 50% and if you scan 20+ systems, it's alot of time. And i hate scanning (in general) to do pve, im only looking for combat sites (7/10, 8/10 and 10/10). Why not give back sisi version when unknown signature had signal strenght? I feel cheated by ccp taking into account how scanning worked on sisi when I was checking last time (not final release).

ps. sorry for lang. english is not my natvie language

ninja edit: I think i picked wrong forum.

DSPs got removed because you now have one built into your ship. ;)

Yes, but this one is broken, not showing signal strengthUgh

Or ships in space, structures etc..
Making scanning easier, scouting harder...
I can see how the DSP is now useless from a HS carebears perspective, but as a w-space dweller, I think removing the DSP sucks and that CCP should feel bad.

i'll put together a thorough review once i have some spare time in RL to actually play eve a bit.

I look forward to your writeup as well, Jack.

My first experience was sorting through 10 scannables and 9 anoms. It took me most of my lunch break @ work to sort through all the changes, adjustments and such. I went back to work rather annoyed. When I came back later, things started to click for me and I've since figured out a few of the mistakes I was making in the new system.

So .. here's my review .. what I personally like, what I've been annoyed with and what I've found, well, just wrong (broken).

This is not a complete list and not in any particular order. Note that, unfortuantely, many of these issues were pointed out to CCP during "testing" - and completely ignored.

  • Annoying -- Moving the Scanning Icons. Personally, I hated moving to the top of the scan window to click 'analyze' but since I've become used to it, I'll put this one into a UI reorganization to annoy the heavy scanner people. I can live with this as I develope that new muscle memory.

  • Broken -- Not being able to initiate a manual system scan (without probes out) by clicking the analyze button.

  • Like -- Ability to resize all my probes "on center" by dragging an outside probe's bubble.

  • Annoying -- Changing the shift / alt drag options to resize and move probes.

  • Like -- being able to move all the probes by just dragging one.

  • Broken -- Clearing a signature and not being able to retrieve it later.

  • Broken -- Not being able to ignore 100% sigs. We need to be able to ignore all those anoms of a given type since we don't care about the other 80 anoms of type "B". As Jack pointed out ... ignoring INDIVIDUAL anoms.

  • Like -- Check box for ignoring all the anoms at once.

  • Broken / Annoying -- My previously saved scan filters don't seem to work in the new system. I haven't taken the time to sort this part out, but I'm guessing a deletion of my custom filters and resetting them will correct that.

  • Annoying -- Automatic system scan when you undock / jump.

  • Broken -- Auto / instant probe recall. EvE is harsh. If you forget your probes, too bad. If you want (need) to leave a set of probes in a system, you should be able to. Pulling your probes should be a deliberate action that takes a moment.

  • Broken / Annoying -- Not being able to lauch 1 probe at a time.

  • Like -- Having the system scanner auto-cycle to see new sigs when they pop up.

  • Annoying / Broken -- Having scan results show up in space (e.g. on screen) and cluttering your ability to select a celestial or other 'in-space' object. We need to see results in the scan window, in space, or both.

  • Broken -- Unable to resize column widths.

  • Like / Annoying -- Preset scan formations. I like it because it saves me time setting up my formations. I'm annoyed that I cannot save a formation (- think of a formation with just 1 probe :)

  • Broken -- Spread scan formation. The dev post says that it's supposed to optimize the layout to take in an entire system. If I drop probes in a system that requires probes to be at 32 au for full-coverage, the "logic" of the new interface dumps them out at 16 au. Hardly optimized and certainly not a replacement for removing the DSPs. RIP DSPs.

  • Broken -- needing to session change (dock / jump) to get back the sigs you 'cleared'.

  • Annoying / Broken -- Scan window size / unable to remove

  • Annoying / Broken? -- Inability to show on the overlay or in the scanning window the sigs & anoms. I found that changing your default 'filter' to "show all" corrected this for me.

  • Annoying -- The Ignored / Filtered text at the bottom of the window. This made my first experience horrible.

  • As a general observation, I've found I like some of the changes and have had a couple of the other changes grow on me.

The whole scanning system update was released without the polish it really needed. I don't think that it's as bad as the UI release was, but close.

As I remember other things I've found, I'll update this post.

I don't think scanning is much easier. Less tedious is what i'd call it. If you have a ultra-omg-wtf-secret scanning technique/formation, you can still use it and will probably have more benefits then the 'plebs' who use the default system

hehe .. but they did that before, so no change there :P

at least ccp didn't put in a line of code as such:

    if (probe.timer = 0) then recall probes

I think I deliberately avoided SiSi for the first month after the initial changes were put up -- just to avoid the "oh boy oh boy".... lol

Not being able to launch a single combatprobe is just bad.

I agree with those two points. Granted, you can just load one combat probe to begin with and that will only launch one probe, but that is a hassle. It would be better to have the choice of launching a set of probes, or a single probe.

I like the way the shift and alt key work now, that is a huge improvement in my mind.

It still doesn't provide the same functionality of the DSP.
