This is a two fold problem.

Problem 1: Ever since the new launcher updated, I have not been able to launch the launcher. I click the launcher icon to open it up (such as from the launcher folder in my Eve installation folder), and nothing happens. I found the log information, and the launcher ends with closing down.


Problem 2: I just installed the latest update. I assume it's Odyssey. I am now STUCK in applying the patch. What happens is I by-pass the launcher (that I cannot run) by going to the eveExe file. It downloads the new patch, and runs through the installation process. Great. Everything looks great. Even the launcher appears to get some updating. I still cannot seem to run the launcher, so I go BACK to the eveExe bypass. The game tells me that the installation data has been downloaded and needs to apply... again. Once that's done, I launch eve, and it does it AGAIN.

So I'm stuck, constantly updating eve. With the launcher down, and the exe file down, I am 100% barred from playing the game now, and more than a little erk'd about that.

I'm running WinXP Pro 64bit (like a boss).

I ran the repair tool, and it seems to have worked out. I still cannot use the launcher though.

It's a common problem. I found out a fix that seems to work for everyone I've talked to. (CCP for some reason doesn't say anything about it)

Try going to EVE Online\launcher\cache and run the "updater" program. I posted in a thread about the launcher not launching when it first came out and that seemed to have fixed everyone's problem.

Sorry to say that the result is the same; the launcher starts up, and shuts right back down. Essentially nothing happens.

Hmm. Well, the only thing I can suggest is to file a bug report. Sorry it didn't help!

if it hangs at validation at 0% you prolly have this error https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=243234&p=1

fix = disable spybot if you have it installed

There is no percentage. The launcher, in essence, does not launch. There is no update, there is no launch. Double click, el-zilcho.

Ok, it appears that you still have the old Launcher (version 1.32). It should have self-updated but obviously that doesn't work (the logs unfortunately give no indication of why).

Please try installing the latest version of the Launcher manually using this installer:
http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_1_545736.exe

Hopefully this will fix your problem. If it doesn't please let me know and we'll see what we can do.
