EFT hasn't been officially updated for few months now, so yeah, things are wrong there..

For now you can use Pyfa, thats the closest u can get to EFT..

Как жаль что ЕФТ больше не обновляется, я так привык к этой проге, изучил её до малейших нюансов.
Привыкать к новым так тяжело, надеюсь когданибудь ЕФТ воскреснет.

You are not.

Even if the database was updated to add the items themselves, they wouldn't work properly. Dev work would need to be done to make them work, we completely reworked the code for Pyfa (and still fiddling with it).

The new command bursts setup and capabilities are so not friendly for fitting tools - as someone with programming experience I don't envy you one bit implementing them (supporting alpha limitations for those fits looks like a bit of a pain as well).

It's already mostly done. We did it like the old fleet boosts just to keep it the same, but we might change it down the road.

There are still a few lingering things that are left, mostly tweaking the effects to make sure they all apply correctly (there's a few that aren't).

But it's working, Blitzmann did some awesome work on it.

Alpha limitations are also being worked on. Not sure how close he is to having a working release, but I know he has some stuff in the works.

Tried to download with mirror 1 and it doesn't accept my inputs... very annoying, ending up using mirror number 2 and my antivirus detected something dodgy.

Well, switching to pyfa wasnt easy, but once you are there, you can get used of it..

Doubt there is gonna be any updates, I think it pilled up too much changes already..

Yea I am curently using pyfa, but i am much mroe comfrtable with the eft ui, and pyfa at least for me is a bit laggy (it just feels like the commands take a bit longer to respond than eft)

It's going to be loss if it's not updated.

Not that pyfa is bad - but I can put a fit together in EFT 3-4x quicker :S

Dunno really just the flow of it and presentation means I can get to what I want quicker, a little more responsive when doing stuff as well but mostly I just find EFT more intuitive.

That's fair, there's nothing wrong with simply being more comfortable and used to it.

I was wondering if there was a specific workflow, process, etc that was causing the difference. Unfortunately can't code "make user work better" into the app. :)

If the developer releases the source it should (If it's programmed relatively neatly) be fairly easy for someone to update. As really all it needs are new ship types and updating of stats for modules and such.

You sweet summer child, one does not simply update a fitting tool. ;)

There's been some major game mechanic changes that have happened that need logic built out to support them. It's not just the database is out of date.

Any update on what's happening with EFT. This has been my tool since I first started playing Eve. I haven't tried Pyfa in a few years, but last time I did I ran away. If this isn't being updated are there other options besides Pyfa or do I have to try that again? Ideally I'd just like an update on what's happening with EFT...

I think one thing is getting to ship fittings and cross referencing fittings - I often have several different ships open in the main window of EFT so I can compare stuff at a glance, etc. and can't see off hand a way to do similar in Pyfa - swapping between tabs and going back and forth within the fittings pane for me is slower than double clicking through the ships menu in EFT and moving individual ship fitting windows around.

(Obviously there are going to be some people for whom tabs is more efficient).

There are a few online options. Just Google "eve fitting tool".

Yeah, comparing fits is a much asked for feature.

Unfortunately we'll (probably) never go the route of side by side fits. Single vs multi is a very low level decision, and each app is designed entirely around that fact. Simply comparing a fit (or the stats) might be an option, but that's something that requires a lot of GUI reworking.

For me, I'm very interested in looking at making Pyfa more efficient. We've already found a number of areas where there were serious slowdowns (for example, a scenario where Pyfa would launch slower if your DB was empty rather than full), and I plan on continuing to hunt down areas where there are similar issues. Being what it is (a GUI app based in python) it'll never be as fast as other options, but there's definitely optimization that can happen.

While we can't get rid of tabs, maybe we can at least make swapping between tabs less painful. :)
