Something has changed.

When you go into the display options and select the custom colors the high, med, low, etc items, each of the 5(?) squares don't show a color, and when you select it, the default color the dialog box comes up with is black.

Nothing has been changed in EFT in this regard. You may try to reset all settings (delete config.ini in EFT folder) if you haven't already. I can only guess that something (like a Windows DLL which responsible for UI drawing) changed on your system as a result of Windows update or setup of some other software. Sorry, I don't have other ideas.

No matter how wide i made it, only "Skills" and "Implants" buttons are displayed, which means it is not possible to "Import" characters skills using API.

There is no more "Import" tab. All the import is managed with Import button on the toolbar.

I downloaded 2.14 and entered new USER ID and API Key, waited several hours and got message "Key has expired", why ?

You need KeyID and Verification Code. Version 2.14 uses new API only.

Why cannot I see new battlecruisers in version 2.14? I have tried to delete all files and copy them from fresh zip but nothing. I cant see them under the battlecruisers node

Any ideas?

Look a bit above for Long Nu posts. You may face same issue - putting EFT to Program Files folder with UAC enabled may mess up things as UAC silently redirects file operations to other place. Easiest way to avoid this is to move EFT out of Program Files.

Will this change be inducted into the Crucible EFT any time soon???

When they hit Tranquility. Most of those changes look minor/cosmetic to me so I see no point in adding them ahead.

Edit - I spoke a little too soon. Experienced the classic ugly shut down issue when closing down EFT with fits still open.

It isn't a significant issue as it doesn't cause any problems. I know about it for a long time but it is very tricky to fix or even reproduce because it happens rarely and seems like randomly.

I am having this problem since 2.13 every time I try to update my char it alays give authentication failed.

For version 2.13.5 or 2.14 you need new customizable API keys. Earlier versions were designed to use old API keys.

I have a work-around for the WININET Error issue.

You will need an older version of EFT as well as the newest version. I'm using 2.12.3 as well as 2.14.

  • Unzip / store each version in their own seperate folders.
  • Run your older version and update your character using your legacy API key. Then close EFT.
  • In the folder with your old version, copy the "Characters" folder and then paste it into the folder with your new version.
  • Viola! When you run the new version, you will have the option to use your nicely updated character info, imported via the old EFT and legacy API key.

It may not be a perfect workaround, but it's doing the job nicely for me and my corpies.

It appears that EFT still has a lot of the old naming for modules that include the 'I' which were removed with Crucible. This is creating errors importing EFT fits into the game and other programs.

When will these be updated?

I noticed this some time ago and it's still an issue in 2.14.

So my Megathron's PG in game without any implants and PG-related rigs is 19375.
When I plug in a 'Squire' PG-2 implant (+1% to PG) my PG in-game increases to 19568,8.

But...

When I create a setup in EFT I get initially 20343.75. Then if I add the implant my PG decreases to the correct (in-game) value: 19568,75.

Shorter version: the implant increases the PG in-game but decreases it (to the correct value, though) in EFT. The main problem is I cannot use EFT for fitting a ship for an implantless clone because the starting value is wrong.

Deleting the Setups catalogue and starting EFT again didn't help so it seems it doesn't have anything to do with older setups.

All this applies to my other ships as well, at least part of them.

I've got all PG-related skills maxed out so I couldn't have set them too high, I've double-checked everything anyway.

Your using Windows ****-sta, there's a reason your having problems. Upgrade your OS to Windows 7 and **** off with the bitching imo.
Better yet, learn coding, programming, and all the wonderful things Gripen has taken his time to learn and just write/code your OWN fix for the problem and post it here like a boss.

Sadly, that would be unethical. Fixing Gripen's code errors where he has misused windows DLLs violates the implicit license granted to us for this program which "isn't [open source] and not planned to be."

But, you have a point that a capable coder should be able to make the software they use work for them. As such I would advise everyone who is unhappy with EFT in its current state to go ahead and try one of it's competitors that are open source and do work with your current computer.

The first I would like to introduce you to is EveHQ, a long running application with a great many features that are not fitting related in addition to the fitting module former users of EFT might be interested in. As a major plus to those with difficulties, it has a very responsive developer community int their forums.

The second is Pyfa (Python Fitting Assistant ). I have only recently been introduced to this offering, but I can see that it's source is readily available and it's liscense (the gpl 3) while not perfect, lets you practice that advise given by NetheranE and actively fix problems as they come up. It seems to support all the features of EFT and quite a few more, not to mention a much more appealing UI. Also, it is fairly trivial to import all your old EFT fits into Pyfa.

You have PG8 implant in your character in EFT (check Implants tab in the Character Editor). PG2 uses same slot as PG8 and implants which are part of a setup override effects from character implants.
