Dear CCP TY for the great grav (oh ore) site screwover of 2013 from all explorers everywhere.

So I made a little bet with myself about how long it would take for the new non hidden belts to be overrun by people who didn't waste one minute training up scanning skills (like I did) to find the grav sites spawning around where my corp operates.

Not even one hour. I lost that bet.

The very instant a jaspet and kernite deposit spawned? I barely had time to fly back and get my barge, not even one cycle done finished before a ret, a hulk, and a flipping orca (probably the alt of one of them) descended on the belt, and for extra you know what and giggles decided to target the pure jaspet I was busy stripping.

I went back to check a few minutes later?

Hulk hulk, mac, orca, ret, cov, mac, mac, ret.

Now someone please explain to me again the logic behind one of the stupidest changes I've seen happen since I started playing EVE. Why should people who have zero time invested in scanning get the benefits of being able to find the higher end ores same as explorer pilots, and thanks to this change also now have no spot off the grid from the suicide cata's that like to roam through high sec on occasion. It's perfectly fine now to have those of us who took the time to go this route be instantly outclassed by the mega corps and the alt armies who now can reap all of the reward with zero of the work?

Oh well I guess I can put those scanning skills to use elsewhere,

Maybe I'll go try to risk gravs in low sec, after all belt mining out there was totally worth the risk, and I'm sure the pvp fleets would never think of the ore site as the first place to look for miners, heaven forbid they have to do some work actually scanning someone down right?

Oh right I keep forgetting I'm supposed to bring escort friends, because as we all know trained combat pilot s just love to sit around and play guard the miner right? And those of us with only a couple hours to play before work would have no problems getting a corp fleet up and running to go out there. I'm sure all the miners would just jump at the chance o lose multimillion barges to a frig roam too...

I know maybe I'll find me a nice WH to ninja, after all it should be safe if I find a deserted one? Not like just anyone can waltz right in, after all they have to scan it down too. And I'll have that nice warning on D-scan when the probes show up. Not like a cloaky could just insta jump right on it. Or the WH owners could point themselves at that now not hidden site, fire the D scan and see exactly where I am without one bit of scanning either?

Perfectly safe, after all Fozzle says players should be the "challenge" and that buff to ores really makes it worth the risk...

[/venom filled sarcasm]

Thanks CCP for wasting my time yet again, and dumbing down your exploration to the point of stupidity. But hey I guess if you wanted more miners getting ganked. Even less incentives to go try and risk low sec mining since gravs there are now "might as well be in a belt". And the one flimsy protection you gave miners in WH's just got taken away as well. Mission accomplished!

CCP just decided, that mining shouldn't be part of proper exploration and removed mining related sites from it. Seems kind of silly to me, since it makes EVE a bit less interesting, but that's what they wanted for some reason.

Just make sure the site is cleared out so it can despawn properly and then it will spawn elsewhere. All it did was increase the input of low-sec ores from high-sec sources.

If they annoy you too much, get some friends with catalysts.

Move to low or null. One of the stated goals of this expansion was to get more people moving to low, now you complain that there is too much competition for resources in high?

Hi. I'm an explorer, and I love this change.

I love it for itself, and I love it even more for the tears it's extracting.

There are many explorers who are not also filthy mining peasants.

Someone at CCP decided that the grav site riches need to be shared between all miners, it's not like there are people who's entire careers were based around scanning or anything like that are there?

Why would this change encourage anyone to move to low or null? Roll

You keep mentioning the word safe, I was under the impression there is no where safe in New Eden.

Could be first steps in a plan to remove static asteroid belts?

It may be time for the OP to raise the black flag and start slitting throats, as the saying goes.

You'll get a lot done in that couple of hours before work and I am willing to bet you will be in a better mood. Heck, you might even kick ass at work too, and get promoted. Getting promoted means more $$, and that means more swag and perhaps you can date more, and get laid too.

This expansion is going to be a good one.

Bring back DEEEEP Space!

And there are many explorers that used to be paid rather well for the location of good grav sites

I hadn't thought of that - it might make sense.
