Mac does not patch Odyssey

Upon starting EVE today the game told me I needed to download the next available version (Odyssey). After downloading I received a notification saying the client would close and the patch would begin. Upon clicking "Okay" the game client closes but the game does not patch. I have since uninstalled the game and am downloading a new copy. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong, or if other people are having similar issues.

You must have started it by opening the package contents and starting the inner application, or you are running a clone. This does not work. You got to let the launcher do the update.

At this point Im not sure the launcher can fix it. It may, or the repair tool may. Downloading a new copy should.

Anyway, when you see that message about downloading a new version, do not do it. Instead quit and run the launcher.

I have not had a launcher for a couple of days now, I'm not sure why. I am not the most technically talented person and I sure have not been playing around with any launcher settings.

After I downloaded a "fresh" copy my launcher seems to be working again. It is currently patching, and everything seems to be working fine.

Does anyone know what might have happened to my launcher? After poking around a bit on the forums it seems that I am not the only mac user who has lost their launcher recently....

Also for future reference, how do you run the launcher if it does not start automatically? I usually just click the EVE icon from my applications folder.... would I have to go into the application folder itself and start the launcher manually in the future?

I used the instructions here after I had the same issue as the OP.

This has fixed it for me.
