I'm glad you've noticed the change these last few weeks. We aim not to disappoint in the next few either. I hope you'll like what you see.

I've noticed and am very appreciative of it. Historically, these shifts in attitude have been the result of some community backlash towards some horrible decisions that got imposed and were merely the engaging of T3 damage control. They were also generally short-lived and would be promptly abandoned as soon as the uproar died down.

This time, it has a feeling of tangibility that hasn't been there before. I'm starting to get this tingling feeling that I as a customer am seen as more than a simple source of revenue and that what the players want to see in the game we love so much actually matters.

Please keep it up. But also, please pardon any skepticism in my tone. CCP as a whole still has to prove themselves to the customers after the recent string of fiascos and inability to provide any significant content since Apocrypha. To paraphrase Hilmar "We'll watch their actions, not their words".

People were constantly telling me I was crazy. For a long time I didn't believe them, but after a while, I started to think they might be right.

But it turns out that they were all wrong. One of the voices in my head is a psychiatrist and he says I'm perfectly sane.

I'll give credit where credit is due. It's always been know some community devs worked out of their homes. It seems obvious to me that bring all of your community team into iceland offices will be better overall.

I would also like to thank you guys for TELLING US, within 24 hours, I was honestly expected a dev blog on this in like a month, after a bunch of players quit and were angry and rumor spread hardcore. That just seemed to be your style before. This idea that you need to triple review dev blog and get them lost in limbo when you should really be honest with the players and diffuse a PR nightmare.

So thanks ccp, and good job.

This won't end well.

When we made the decision, several weeks ago, to bring the volunteer program back we sat down and looked at what players were unhappy with in the past. We intend to work closely with everyone in Customer Relations and with the CSM to ensure that we produce a program which allows volunteers to keep the forums clean but not access other players information.

You should expect a fully comprehensive blog in the next two weeks which will explain everything.

Nothing to apologize for! It was a really diffcult and disappointing time for the Community. And the scepticism is well deserved in my opinion.

Watch the coming days and months, judge us by our actions then!

I'm sure it was a difficult time for the devs as well. I'm a developer (not gaming related) and lead a small dev team. Little is more frustrating than when we have a path laid out with good ideas and a clear vision of where we're going and all of a sudden some out-of-touch member of management comes in with their new fantastic ideas. We're forced to abandon or compromise our own vision for something we consider rather mediocre. And then when the idea flops, we're the ones that have to deal with the repercussions and work with the clients to "fix" things.

And of course, I don't expect any dev to comment back on that last point. It's just to let you know that my skepticism isn't directed at you personally in any way.

People were constantly telling me I was crazy. For a long time I didn't believe them, but after a while, I started to think they might be right.

It's not about privacy. Non-professional moderators tend to be biased and more often than not abuse their powers. I can't say that my experience is all-encompassing but I haven't seen a single big enough forum where such problem didn't existed.

Though times, tough decisions, and it is never, ever pleasant. Well done on the higher # of posts in the Forums. Well done on the improved focus on Eve. Much, much empathy for those losing their jobs.

One thing you might fwd to Hilmar, in reaction to his new interview w/ Eurogamer:
* Pilots I know all agree that leaking the Greed is Good memo was aimed straight at, and ONLY at, Hilmar himself.
* If he truly believes that the leak was aimed at the company as a whole the man needs to do a bit more "introspection".

+5 to the GMs, the Devs, and the Coders. Smile

Man I'm starting to feel spoiled :D

I'm just hope you can keep this all up in the long term, just don't bite of more than you can chew or some players that has gotten a taste for the new CCP might get pretty disappointed again.

I'm checking in as part of the blogging/podcasting community. I'm sorry that it's been a crap week for your team and I'm sad to see the loss of many CCP folks I had previously been in contact with.

I look forward to what the New Community Order brings. Good luck.

Hi CCP Guard and everyone! Thanks for the info.

I got 2 suggestions. First is a better way for us to ask questions and get answers. You may remember the "Devs answer every question" thread.....

I'm suggesting start a new channel in the information portal called Q&A. In it only Devs could start a thread. Others can post, but the channel would have one new feature: A thread would lock as soon as a subscriber posted to it.

The result is any question asked would sit at the end of the thread, free of distractions, until a Dev got time to answer it and unlock the thread (making it ready for the next question). Twenty or so threads like this would allow a smooth back and forth communication between us and CCP. It would also make it easy for Devs to see where there are questions to be answered: Just look at the end of any thread that is locked.

The next suggestion is to allow us all to be moderators, but only of our threads.

When someone starts a thread, they got the option to turn on "Op moderation". Others can see if this option has been selected for a thread. In such a thread the Op may remove any post. They cannot edit the post, or see any extra info on anyone. Remove would be their only option.

Thanks CCP, I appreciate the explanation. Geographical cosolidation makes sense with the goal of keeping managment in better touch with the community. Without info it was easy to imagine certain people taking the fall for failing to keep the community pacified.
As has already been mentioned, everything else coming from CCP recently has been brilliant, keep it up. It makes me excited to play again.

That may work in a perfect world, but i think alot of threads would sit locked because the last post was a comment not a question, creating lots of extra work for devs. That system could be greifed very easily.

Would any of you folks at the new customer relations dep know if the other Devs have a tool/system in the cooking, that allows tweaking/adjusting of values like PG/bonuses/speed/etc. pp. on the live server *drumroll* "in realtime"?

Sounds rather drastic... I could warm to a 'hide' function (so, the reply is hidden if you enter the thread, but can be read if wanted). And I'd then like a forum setting for me personally that says: "adapt moderation by thread-owners yes/no" please Cool

Make a proposal along those lines and I'll sign Blink

I really like the new CCP.

We distinguish the excellent man from the common man by saying that the former is the one who makes great demands upon himself, and the latter who makes no demands on himself.
