A question to those who under stand it. Would it be possible for a wormhole in New Eden to lead to the solar system Earth is in? And if you could, can you tell me why or why not?

The EVE Gate led to our current space but it closed a long time ago. Yes, it could reopen again sometime soon (or perhaps another one?) but that is up to CCP.

We can all agree it would be a bad thing to happen.

No, we cannot. It could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the storyline CCP attaches to the opening of a new wormhole and the history in the Sol area since the original eve gate closed.

The weapon from an earth freighter wiped out an entire minmater capital and subcap fleet in a single shot. That weapon was thousands of years old.

I'm slightly curious as to what kind of tears would be shed if CCP just HADOUKEN'd an entire CFC supercap fleet into ashes.

Wouldn't Earth be far, far more advanced than even the Jove? IIRC EVE takes place after a complete technological collapse and reconstruction, millenia after the eve gate thing. I'm pretty sure you'd know immediately if a wormhole took you back to Sol.

Yes it would. According to the lore it has been about 20,000 years since the EVE gate collapse.

Jove was more advanced then Earth was prior to the gate. Granted Jove's limited numbers could effect their advancement, but also Earth seemed to be in a power struggle prior to the Exodus, which probably lead to a civil war.

At least that's what I remember of the backstory.

And it's been 20,000 years. What if the people of Earth are dead? The back story is that Earth was in a power struggle and one of there weapons took out an entire capital fleet in ONE shot. What if, the people of Earth drove themselves to extinction?

Instead of spending money developing another game (don't know if they're planning on it) there are a lot of ways they could make a mega-expansion with a fleshed out story, possibly included the gate (maybe opened up stations to Big smile), which they charged for. I would be more than happy to pay for that. I think they could 'gate' this content to, so people wouldn't have to get it if they didn't want to.

this is an interesting and terrifying lore topic, being new i hope more would jump in and discuss their opinons on the "what if"/// but one thing is for certain.. CCP bettter not touch that ancient gate till the TV show is ready and easily available to watch around the world.

my .02 isk.

honestly i'd think it be sorta cool of the CCP dev's themselves exposed that they are the incoming armada to take us new eden peeps out. but hey thats just my imagination going wild.

If I'm correct, it's possible that the Terrans left on the other side of the EVE Gate were wiped out due to lack of resources, the imminency of which was the reason they explored the wormhole in the first place. If this is the case, and the reopening would not just lead to New Eden's immediate annihilation or enslavement, I think that it would be interesting if CCP used Sol as an advanced exploration playground, like wormholes. Seagull almost confirmed that something like this with player built star gates is in the long term development plan, so making use of the ambiguity of the lore would be convenient for their purposes. I really just want the ability to head out into the complete unknown and manipulate what space I find to my own liking. Think about it; huge player fleets with the purpose of colonization. Sovereignty in a fashion that is not restricted nearly as heavily by current game mechanics or its adjacency to Empire space. I think that would be fun.

Thats how I see Earth being. Probably not extinct but pushed back due to destroying themselves and having to rebuild. Also the weapon was a Jovian ship not Earth based, if I'm thinking of the same thing.

So the Amarr would enslave the people of Earth if the gate did reopen.

Earth is probably an uninhabitable rock swirling with a poisonous cloud of CO2 and other hothouse gasses, like Venus.

Probably why humanity was so eager to use the EVE gate in the first place.

We have artificial gravity in stations, I think they could deal with greenhouse gases.
