I love that we get exploration expansion but CCP has loot nerfed the exploration sites to the point where they are almost no longer worth running. Oh yay, another can with only overseer effects in it!

Exploration, I feel will not be to different. There will still be stuff to scan down and although they have taken out the hidden mining belts they have the new mini game.

That alone will give the pvp guys in low and null a really good chance of catching the exploration pilots, and the loot, with the faction POS stuff will be better. I hope.

I am just waiting for the day when we all get titans in 1 month of starting the game.

Theres some nights I feel like exploring but don't have 2 hours to devote to scanning down 20+ sigs to find a decent site to run.

I haven't checked out the new scanning system on SiSi but hopefully theres a little challenge left in finding sigs but it doesn't take so freaking long.

LOL

Umm right, a signature takes about 30 seconds to one minute at most, combat probing stuff down takes about the same from launching probes to being on grid with the sucker, depending of course on whether they're moving or not. Learn to scan.

+1 to OP.

I spent a few night learning the scanning and actually enjoying the fact that scanning was (to some extent) rather difficult. I also enjoyed the fact that not everyone had the ability/time to bother scanning down sites... Now with the new "reveal all mode" every Tom, **** and Harry will be able to see every site that the system has to offer. Its barely exploration anymore...

EDIT: Bah cant believe it took out the middle name pffft lol

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

Don't be silly! Don't you know that Titans will be the next nOOb start ship in the next expansion.

What the hell happened to the day when Eve players prided themselves on the fact that it was a rock hard game, that needed patience and effort invested into what you did?

Another step in the direction of WoWification. CCP have sold out to the accountants. But, I guess it's only to be expected.

Right - if you want to find a signature worth running, launch probes, select the faintest sig ( that is usually a mag or radar site ) and concentrate on that one. Takes 4 minutes at most ( with a scanning frig and skills at 4, with covops is half that ). No need to scan all 20 sigs.

Confirming big part of exploration will be dead soon. Sad I am kinda sad that CCP is trying to introduce win button in mechanics which work very well and people actually like them and use them.

Was funny to see CCP's yesterday live stream where the devs were like... "aha, ok, yeah, ok, aha, ok.. that's pretty cool, that's pretty awesome, nice, cool, great" and all those dudes in the chat channel who were very excited about the upcomming changes but also they have not the smallest clue about what SiSi is and how to access it in order to test the new exploration and scanning features.

To quote my personal Jesus, Dr. Eyjolfur Gudmundsson : very interesting times ahead in EVE. I predict rage and tears, a lot. But also I might be wrong. Personally, I don't care as the best receipe for surving is to adapt and move along. This is EVE, htfu or gtfo.

Competition for decent sites in high sec is already pretty high, I think this is more about driving people out, and into space where more game doth happen.

A little dumbing down in one area might have some good impacts on others, but time will tell. Also, getting a site to 0% has never been the tricky bit. There was complaining when the max range of probes was buffed, allowing for pretty much the same effect, but once the changes came, not much really changed.

Still not really convinced about the "minigames" though.

Correct. But only the first time.

Also people spent a long time training up AstroV just to be able to do what everyone will be able to do after Odyssey.

I'm one of those people too. But as a previous poster mentioned, a lot of other things have been improved/simplified since exploration was officially launched.

Overall, I am not in disagreement with the Odyssey version of exploration, but I really can't comprehend CCP's objectives.

Do they want to "force" more players to run sites? They didn't need to go through all the trouble of changing the exploration mechanics - they could simply upgrade the drops.

And yes, there should be SP reimbursement for characters trained to say Astro* all Vs.

Well they made the sites easy to find but put in a tedious mini-game and loot-spew. Should balance out right? All good.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

so what you say is that more clicks made the feature better in past?

Which is interesting, since they added more clicks in exploration.

no they didn't. the scanning itself has far less clicks.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

I didn't mean it takes 2 hours to scan 20 sigs I meant the amount of time I spend finding a decent site to run takes way too long.

having a UBER complicated scanning system that feel more like a realistic simulation of a really really boring job that is analysing scan result and placing probes manually.. in a GAME..nah..

I find it fair that they made it more accessible.

I understand people that want Eve to stay complicated..
But I don't..
I want this game to have 10x more players within the next 5 years
now THAT would be awesome.
and it's not gonna happen unless they make more and more features more accessible.

Many don't like PvP why not just make another server for just PVE. It would gain 10x the people!

IMO PVP is not the problem..Ù
and instancing Eve would be the biggest mistake of CCP (after walk in station and Dust..)

So what your saying is that changing what made a certain game what it is, would be a mistake?

I like having technology work for me instead of putting me to work. It's silly to think that in Star Trek somebody might have had to sit at a computer screen manually positioning, resizing, and nudging a bunch of probes around for 5 minutes just to find out where the away team's shuttle flew off to.

yea, every time i tackle target i think "why the hell i need to manually fly my ship to achieve bigger angular velocity and cannot use automation "????

I guess CCP needs to automate this operation. Because we are in deep future with great technologies. It would be good to just press button "Catch target" and get your ship getting into given orbit and use its' point and maintain the best possible speed/overheat to keep target pointed.

good idea isn't it?

It is a good idea. But you already have that automated function; orbiting. You have it but you, reading like the competent pvp pilot you probably are, don't use it much because as with all step-by-step automation, it loses out to the human brain's ability of initiative; in this case slingshoting the automated orbit right into the "prey's" tackle range.

I stand behind Gianath in that the challenge shouldn't come from the UI but the content the UI allows us to interact with. We should have more effortless options, hell, I'd even stand behind there being a way to completely afk mission a room without drones. Keep in mind though, that there is a reason shortcuts aren't the main path.
