Or perhaps, from the perspective of a capsuleer questioning their humanity as they endure forever.

We're basically the Human Model Cylons when you think about it, and they worked that pretty damned well. Downside is we need to remove the Capsule part of things.

I don't want to be mean to iceland but don't get your hopes up too high dudes, an incelandic space opera TV series will probably make Syfy monster movies look like high production value.

Wouldn't be surprised if half of it ends up being Machinema made by CCP with the other half recorded in someone's basement.

The important thing is that they don't get too fancy with it. I have faith in HBO but still I'm worried the entire thing is going to be slo-mo explosions with no real content (depth).

no offense to anime fans, but I really don't want to see too much similarity between the eve series (if it actually gets made that is) and anime. In my experience anime tends to focus too much on the one thing that makes the particular anime series special, eventually turning the whole thing ridiculous as it keeps escalating.

To answer the OP: What I want to see is a live action series that takes place inside the eve universe.

chribba played by leonardo dicrappio, awesome xD

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie

I'll watch it anyway, but i don't have much expectations from it...

But OF COURSE i'll prefer something like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Stargate Atlantis...
I mean, with the lore and story. I'm not very interested in player stories, but it's can be there as an additional source. Let's say, every 4th one is a true story.

But as i said i don't have much expectations - those cool sci-fi series are done by the big companies with a lot of money invested.

in 2007 i've thought it's a sci-fi simulator, not an "e-sports" game. I'm not a teenager, how would i like it much?

They could make it from a new pilots perspective, loads more to be done there really. Angst over the first kill, dreading low and zero sec..

It should completely and utterly revolve around the Providence region!

[clearly I am unbiased in my opinion]

On a more serious note: there are 2 ways they can go about it and both ways would be good.

They can: go with the lore, EVE has a great lore and just making a TV series based on the lore should be enough.

Option 2 would be to focus on player created stories, EVEs political history has created enough stories to feed a TV series with, as proven by the True Story website.

If CCP were somehow able to do a TV series that combined both the game lore and some of the actual player created events, THAT would be awesome.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

You want us to stop following the badass Minmatars and Gallente killing the evil Amarr & Caldari, and instead focus on some nerd who can't find a girlfriend?

Nah, no thanks.

I have a feeling that will be the most likely course. Lore provides the backdrop, but the main story deals with player interactions within (and reactions to) that tapestry of larger events... leading to players taking a more direct hand in those larger events as CCP pursues the whole "The Empires are losing control to the capsuleers and DUST mercs" theme.

I'm sure it would focus on the EvE universe as a whole, not just capsuleers so there's a wealth of story material to go at.

I think the concept of immortal pilots doesn't really work in a series that has to appeal to a audience with an age of 25 and older.

At the moment The Walking dead and Game of Thrones are amoung the most appreaciated genre series. A lot of that appeal comes from the fact that anyone can drop dead at any moment. (and boobies ocourse P )

What makes EVE online a dark a gritty game is the fact that there is loss, a tv series should reflect that and that aint going to happen when the pilots wake up after every fight.

Unless I misunderstood, according to the lore, the neural scanner that takes a 'snapshot' of your brain only works when the persons head is in precisely the right position to the device (e.g. in a pod) so they aren't immortal out of a pod.

(Unfortunately, modern burning scanners are somewhat large contraptions that require
a person’s head to be in precise alignment at the moment of death. Because planning
death this precisely can be difficult, cloning and transfer never quite gained wide
traction throughout the cluster, remaining the province of the rich for the most part.
This changed, however, when engineers realized that there was a significant and
growing population who would always be in the same position when they were most 42
likely to die: pod pilots.

I rly wanted to like it. I literaly forced myself to watch whole season to find some common sense in it. Sadly found only grotesque Murican history based space cowboy crap. Thankfully Higher Power intervened and saved us from more suffering.

Yes, that's it. Very imaginative series. Could easily be the basis for something more involved and extended. The Clear Skies series had a short, but well thought out story arc. As others have suggested, something along the lines of the FireFly series would be great.

The evolving EVE back-story amounts to an almost inexhaustible source for a TV series. Or perhaps even a movie.
