EVE Mac Launcher is not working anymore

About two days after the launcher patch (Mac did not receive a change), my launcher stops working. It comes up with an "Unexpected Error" warning, the same warning which appears if my internet connection isn't working properly.

However, if I open EVE manually through my files and open without using the launcher, EVE opens perfectly fine.

I assume I'm not the only one receiving this issue. But I won't be able to do patches or anything if the launcher stays like this! Therefore I won't be able to play EVE if this doesn't get fixed before the next patch!

I'm sure I'm not the only one receiving this. My Internet is working perfectly normal.

2 days and no reply yet?

I'm really wondering what is going to happen when Odyssey launches and I won't be able to download it due to having no working launcher.

There's something weird with your installation; it's attempting to parse a file that's in an incorrect state. Can you provide us with the full exception that is listed there, by copying it to pastebin? That would help in tracking down your issue.

I was just looking at a bug report that had a similar exception and my response was asking for more information, so I'm going to try here as well:

are you behind a wifi hotspot, or other device that requires you to login? The EVE Launcher is attempting to request data from our web servers, but appears to be getting an invalid response when attempting to do so, and this is then being parsed by the EVE Launcher, which fails.

Do you know what this is? Are you still experiencing this issue?

I'm still experiencing the issue, my internet is working perfectly fine and EVE launcher has always worked on my internet. I can still launch EVE by bypassing the launcher but the launcher itself will not open.

This isn't an issue with my internet and I'm not the only one receiving the issue as I've seen a similar forum thread with the same issue on the EVE Online Macintosh forums.

Can you provide the full log that it throws? The image is helpful but not complete. The reason I asked if you were behind a firewall or wifi hotspot is that in the log that I saw that was similar to yours, the response the Launcher had received when attempting to query our webservers, was a redirect page that mentions access points, portals and hotspots, specifically WISPAccessGatewayParam: https://www.google.is/search?q=WISPAccessGatewayParam

If you look in your image, it contains a reference to self.buffer, and in that buffer is what appears to be a HTML formatted response ie: a webpage, of which one element is WISPAccessGatewayParam.

Could you tell me if you have any firewall software, or perhaps an antivirus that is running on your computer; something is stopping you from getting the right response and I'm really interested in what it is.

Additionally, if you could give us the whole log, that would be even better; you can find it under EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/cache/ in your Applications. The filename will be similar to launcher.2013.05.31.log

I have added the May 30th 2013 log file from the cache folder into the Bug Report I sent in. Bug report of mine has ID 159488

EDIT: I have only got the Macintosh Firewall on when i open the EVE launcher. This isn't a router problem otherwise I shouldn't be receiving this issue.

Looking at your log, the data it's getting contains a redirect to a subdomain under nevayawifi.net and specifically refers to a hotspot. What is your network configuration?

I will add in my current internet spot into the bug report as I'm at a different internet (Different Home internet).

I connect perfectly to the SiSi client no problems at all. I'm believing that my TQ launcher could be bugged or something. How will I reinstall my TQ launcher if this is the fix?

Here is my situation, the regular EVE Online icon has never worked for me. Whenever I click it I get "EVE Online.app is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the trash." (Same message whenever I try to run the repair tool) The only way I can play is if I right click and Show Package contents and click on the EVE Online app in the Resources folder.

Whenever there is an update I become stuck. It downloads the patch and tells me the client will close and the update process will begin. Nothing happens. Over and over. No way to get in the game.

I tried to manually extract the patch as another posted above but it does not allow me to apply the patch to EVE Online because it is "damaged and should be moved to the trash".

Trying the repair tool also gives me "damaged and should be moved to the trash".

That's not actual damage, but rather an error message from Gatekeeper:
"OS X: About Gatekeeper wrote:

  • "Damaged" app. – The app has been altered by something other than the developer. This message will appear no matter the Gatekeeper option chosen.
  • "App name" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
  • Safari downloaded this file on Date & Time from URL.

It's a very unintuitive error message since it doesn't mention anything to do with Gatekeeper itself.

You can clear out any cached, downloaded files by opening the EVE Online.app, and navigating to Contents/Resources and deleting the 'cache' folder.

Let me know how it goes.

My launcher is fixed now. However when i open my client my entire computer slows down and the client doesn't load at all, stays on a black screen.

This client issue only happened when the DDoS attack issues happened.

I am sorry for the double post.

EVE Forums went a little strange and doubled posted for some reason. What?

I have the same problem: Launcher goes to black screen. Never happened before. Initially it even loaded the EVE music but now, after Repair tool, it does not load the music and it freezes at the black screen (So I have to reboot manually)
