Computer in overdrive since the new launcher - is it because of the new launcher?

I don't know if this is the right place for this - but I notice after the new launcher my computer fan is constantly in overdrive - it was never like that prior to the new launcher.

I read in chat the other day where someone mentioned this problem and was told that the new launcher is using a lot of cpu, gpu, not sure, but that it was causing the computer to chug. If this is the case is there a fix/workaround for this? Really tired of the fan going and going and going.
