Much cheaper to do, he was going to die anyway, it was most likely an RMT mission and I bet you could do it much more efficiently.

He should have at least fit a nano or something for faster warping.

If I knew he wasn't just some guy playing EVE
I'm sure it wasn't the case but I'd feel guilty if I cost EVE even one subscription. For all I know, that's what happened there.

Its an RMT tactic. These people are a cancer upon this game and you would be doing a service by blowing them up and stealing their money. There is at least one big catch a month.
