My guess is a bad build got pushed out that they basically can't fix from their end. There's no point spending a ton of time making an official solution since it only affects singularity. Think about it: you're asking for a launcher update, when the bug is that your launcher can't download the launcher update anyway.


What this guy wrote. There is no easy way for us to fix these broken cases as the updater itself is broken - and yeah, copying from TQ is probably the easiest workaround.
