Yep, that would be this character. Logged in game now, no unallocated sp. Weird, huh? Maybe I'll petition it. Or not, not too worried about it.

sure you're looking in the right place?

at first i thought i didn't get any either, turns out i was looking at the skill queue window, not the character sheet.

You also get a message in the top left of the screen that you've received them when you log in.

you did?
when logging in all my accounts i'm cycling through windows and hitting enter instead of reading anything that pops up on a screen i see for about 2 seconds.

the log in screen is a terrible place to put information considering people simply don't look at it. nobody sits and thinks "i want to read this screen" they want to log in. a pop up upon logging in would convey far more information to people.

That's kind of what they just said ... there was a pop up message when you logged into the game.

Yes, I should have made that more clear.

still didn't see it. oh well.

wait, are we talking about getting in to the actual game, or the character select screen? because if it's the character select screen i stand by my previous point, once you log in you automatically hit enter to enter the game on a character and read NOTHING on that almost redundant screen.

Sick...

I like free stuff.

Actual game, as soon as you've logged in.

Edit: Same area where you get notified that skills have been completed and if there's any certificates that are ready to collect.

I just leave unallocated SP that way until I need to get a skill trained up ASAP.

Would you like a personal phone call from CCP? Maybe a CCP employee coming around to your door with a personalized manual in how to pay attention in a game you are playing.

Because seriously, you are outstandingly dense if you can't figure out that there is SP waiting to be added.

So as an apology i get 50k SP put into both my accounts on chars i no longer play.

OH well done CCP

Surely we could have had them as a redeem item and choose which alt i used them on.

Wait a second. I was playing all day when the patch hit so I didn't lose out on SP. Plus I had skills in queue and the server wasn't down.

I don't understand this. I don't feel right accepting this gift.

no, i'm just saying login screens are a terrible method of communicating things to people since nobody ever sits there and reads the log in screens.

why would i? if i'm logging in to eve it's because i want to play.

they could always do what they do with the tutorial, make an obnoxious banner covering almost a quarter of the screen until you open it and close it again, several times.

I have the same problem and made a petition for it to be swapped over to my main and also suggested the same redeem item idea you have too. CCP, in future let us decide who our mains are. Though thank you for the generous gift regardless.

But you said

So I guess I must be the nobody that you refer to.

It's up to you if you read what's on the log in screen, but if you don't bother to look then you can't moan that you didn't get notified of something. Although in the case in question the notification was in-game and you missed it because you were too busy logging in alts. There again if you logged in one character and checked if there's any messages before logging in the rest you wouldn't have missed it.

EDIT: However, If they only gave the sp to the highest sp character per account then you may not have had a notification if you logged a lower sp character. But I'm only running one character so can't check that.

nah, most of my accounts only have 1 character on them. i simply didn't see the message because it's there for like 5 seconds upon logging in, that 5 seconds where i minimise the client and log in my other accounts...

either way, i knew we were getting free sp but displaying information upon logging in is a terrible way to inform people of things.

It produces a pop-up on logging in, it's in the news items, it's in developer posts on the forums, and it's in your character sheet.

What the hell more do you want?
Your complaint boils down to "I didn't notice it because I couldn't be bothered looking at my client."

I think Danni wants a banner message that takes up 1/3 of the screen with a large button asking have you read the message, if so click here, which gets rid of the message.

In which case I guarantee you he'd be complaining about the fact that he'd have to click that on logging in.
