Solo Lvl 5 questions about what to fly in low

Ugh, I have been in high sec too long now. I have been able to do 4's and 5's in low for a while, but it has always been unclear what to fly there. I have been using the Sentry Dom sniper setup for a long time, my Dom hasn't seen a red bar in the armor meter light up in about a year. It works, but my gosh if I have to do another 4 in high I am going to scream!
I have had alts in other corps before to no good end. So actually trusting a corp ever again is out. Bumping 30m sp and heavy into the drones I was considering running missions in low with a Carrier or a Nyx. It seems on paper that even if one or 2 people jumped me I should , with my EHP and DPS, be ok. But all I have ever read or heard from in chat is that "OMG YOU WOULD DIE SO FAST, EVERYONE WOULD BE ON YOU"
So here I am coming to you pilots with more knowledge. I am completely open to suggestions. I just need to know a direction so I can study and plan before I make a move. Thank you so much in advance Smile

I've only done a few L5s with friends and I was flying a PVP Talos in those (got popped as well :D) so I can't comment on the solo ship of choice... but about that carrier thing- if you get tackled, it's pretty safe to assume that a fleet is already on the way.

Also note that training for caps takes a very long time, and perhaps best to forget that supercarrier thing completely if you plan to be in a one-man corp.

Maybe run some exploration sites in a smaller (easier to move around in hostile space than battleships and up) to get a hang of things? You'll want to be on top of things before risking more valuable stuff. I'd also recommend hunting some PVErs ni low/null, learning the combat from the offensive perspective will improve your survival chances massively.

Good idea. I can already fly them, just didn't want to get crushed day one because of being stupid. Exploration sounds interesting, I might have to look into that for now. Thanks

If you get caught in a capital in low sec every eve player from the surrounding systems will via intel channels know about it and will head over to be on the KM. I would even go as far to say that if you get caught in a super, test,pl, goons, etc will hot drop their super fleets just to destroy it.
The last time someone "accidentally" jumped a titan to LS it started a capital escalation like you won't believe. I like many eve pilots heard about it in Jita local and set out in a PVP frig just to get on the KM's Twisted

If you search the forums I recently read about this one guy saying that you can do some L5s solo with a MJD snipe Raven.

Sentry carrier in every possible mission system.
Only accept missions you can blitzt.
Travel with shutle to the mission system.
Get into carrier and do the mission.
dock.

Start from the beginning again.
If you have alts who can accept missions, that would be even better.

Also: if you don't trust your corpmates, you are in the wrong corp, mate.
