EVE clearly should have been designed to work well with third party programs that CCP has absolutely no control over.

In fact distributing EVE through Steam is, apart from the increased subscription levels, a mistake. It would be fine if you just got the game through Steam and that was that, but the software interactions should have been left out.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Steam is awesome. Uplay and Origin on the other hand....

yeah, only tolerate Uplay on my machine (quarantined in its own godawful lifeless barren of a partition, with extra security to keep it from getting too comfortable with my stuff) because of certain games that require it. steam is awesome though, and for people who whine about "but it always has things running in the background" if you know how to set up a computer and security, its not that hard to have it cancel all functions and be more or les dormant until you activate it again.

as for origin, its an insulting piece of corporate garbage from a garbage company so disgusting not even devils themselves would associate with them.

And I seriously have a hard time understanding how people still don't have Steam accounts. The future will not hurt you. Join us.

I only play one video game. Not sure, what improvement steam can be under these circumstances. Especially since CCP made paying for EVE as easy as I could wish.

Remove standings and insurance.

Steam might be awesome to you but it's a pile of worthless steaming crap to me, because it offers me nothing that is of any use to me.

Like some other people I don't see why you should be forced into an agreement with a 3rd party when you buy a product.

Edit:
Only reason I ended up with a Steam account is Skyrim, wasn't even aware of Steam before then. Skyrim nearly went in the bin, but as I used to like Morrowind so much I decided I might as well try it as I'd already opened the case, so couldn't send it back.

Any other game would have gone into the bin.

But Skyrim ended up as a huge disappointment anyway thanks to it's linear storylines and locked areas that you can only open by doing all the linear storylines and in the process breaks any kind of meaningful RP. When I say RP I mean RP the role of the character rather than the character itself.

That thread doesn't answer this question regarding the linking of accounts between steam and Eve. I'd be delighted if I could simply log on without entering my password when using steam. Would be great to have a Dev shed some light upon this.

Yeah, you're right. The issue mentioned in the linked thread is about Steam being unable to connect, which has now been resolved. I read that a bit too quickly, and just assumed it was the same thing.

It'd be great if this issue can be fixed so we don't have to log on manually all the time. :)

/bump

This still isn't fixed.

The red-coloured error message is now "Please use your EVE username / password" and I have to manually log on every time. No big deal, but it is kind of annoying that it doesn't log on automatically.
