SiSi, how often does the Character Database get mirrored

Hai CCP,

I have a few things I would like to test. How often do you mirror the TQ DB to SiSi? Im really not a computer guy, but I imagine its as easy as copy/paste a huge db file from one folder to the other?

Last mirror before the latest one was what, months ago? Any chance we can have those mirrors a bit more frequently?
It helps testing when you have your ships/mods/skills at least somewhat updated

Probably more in the lines of executing "mirror.bat", with some stuff like restoring how much free SP you got etc.

But it shouldn't be their main concern 2 weeks from releasing an expansion, as features testing and feedback is far more important than having a brand new mirror for players.

(Plus, it's possible than many players have skilled for Hacking/Archeo/Exploring in view of the incoming Odyssey changes, and wouldn't be able to test the features anymore on Sisi)

It's more complex than either of you think :)

I will probably miss some steps here, but the first thing we do is take a snapshot of the TQ database. Then we restore that snapshot to become a full DB. Once that is complete, we prune sensitive information from it (such as POS positions, moon minerals, etc). Market seeding, free SP, etc, is all handled separately from the mirroring process.

We don't mirror simply because players want more SP - having reasonably fresh mirrors is important for our testing purposes. We tend to mirror every 6-8 weeks. I do not see it becoming more frequent than that, but may become less frequent as we automate important parts of things that mirroring solves.

Are you doing the DB changes for Odyssey live on Sisi or are you running them beforehand? For the mirror tomorrow?

They are being run beforehand (I think they are running right now).
