ANSWER: The Council of Stellar Management

It is simply not acceptable that in times where sacked CCP Devs are literally sat in their pyjamas crying into their cereal, that the money is available to fly these people to Iceland to ineffectually posture, pad their CVs, get drunk and try to maintain the delusion of grandeur they labour under.

This has even started to become clear to themselves. Only days ago they crowed and gloated over the hilmarrrrgh "apology" blog, fighting amongst themselves to claim the biggest piece of the credit cake. Now, with 120 sackings, they have all developed SSS (sloping shoulder syndrome) as they seek to blame each other and even the players who flocked to their call for protest. Even the Chair of the CSM has let his nihilistic facade slip a little as the guilt hits him as to his role in the sacking of his great drinking buddies at CCP.

A farce from day one, the CSM was launched not in an oversight role as publicised by hillmar, but pre nerfed as a "communication conduit" and soon degenerated into childish squables (Constantine vs that goon guy) and rule breaking (trassler and that ankhatamapeonama bird). The 250 issue backlog of agreed issues that CCP routinley ignored stands evidence as to their innefectuality. Many people spent many many wasted hours trying to push issues through the frameowrk CCP gave us to see it drop out of site.

In times of plenty, where vanity project rap videos and dev bands were de-rigeur at CCP HQ - the CSM was an affordable plaything. But in these times of economic woe it is nothing short of outrageous it still exist.

12 world wide plane tickets, hotel fees, meals, and incidental costs many times a year would have paid the wages of some of the Devs who have been given the boot.

Particulaly considering the reported peenuts many Devs reportedly accept as wages due to their love of the game and company.

CCP are tightening their belts, and now is the perfect time to tighten the metaphorical noose around the CSM. All the clamour for CCP management to resign for failure works with the CSM as well. They have failed. The CSM, in its 6 incarnations, have presided over a near terminal decline in the game. In times of honour, resignation would have been the honourable action in response to abject failure.

It is clear that these "individuals" who inhabit the CSM will not take that route. They need to be sacked. NOW. Hilmar.. get shot of them!

Couldn't agree more.

The CSM is a useless publicity stunt with no real substance, that's de-evolved into a nullsec alliance popularity contest to see who can pin the most votes.

A very small minority of the playerbase actually votes in the elections despite huge advertising campaigns by CCP to encourage people to get involved. Most see it as the joke that it is, and nothing more than a public relations tool.

CCP would have been far better off canning the bad joke that the CSM is, and working with their community team (who incidentally are all now gone) to communicate with the playerbase.

I would be very surprised if that budget is not slashed by a size-able amount, in the current climate.

I've been playing for over 6 years now, and I have yet to vote in the CSM. It's just like the high school prom's King and Queen. Only the most popular win, not who is actually good for the job.

Disgusting.

Oh thats ok then. Lets hire a giant inflatable blimp in the shape of a gourmet sandwich and hover it over CCP Hq. The CSM can sit in it and wave at all the redundant workers.

Its ok because its in the PR budget and that budget is inviolate.

When CCP goes into administration it will be unavoidable because noboy can mess with the PR budget.

It would seem logical that during this time of world wide economic troubles that measures would be put in place to conserve profit. I kind of feel that the use of teleconferencing would be able to suffice for much of the normal meetings with the CSM. While the actual role of CSM may or may not be more or less a publicity stunt... I feel that the idea should be preserved. It would be nice to see CCP move into more open and 2way talk with the CSM through video conferences on perhaps a monthly basis.
This new prerogative could also be supplemented with more regular video blogs.
I personally feel that the community would respond much better with some sort of monthly update from both CCP and CSM in a vlog from... which frankly vloging doesnt take that much time, so I don't see it being a massive time issue.

We talk to CCP on a daily basis, not monthly or weekly.

Agreed +1

Fire them and stop pretending they have any role other than to make us all feel like you want to hear what we have to say.

And yet, even with so many talks, you were unable to effectively communicate the feelings of the community to CCP, costing 120 people their jobs.

Well done. Bravo.

This is a computer game, we fly internet space ships and we pay to do so. If I had an issue with the game, why would I want to talk to some knob living out of their Mom's spare room- AKA 'The Command Center?" Self styled "Commander" of hundreds of "Brave Capsuleers", who dreams of destroying worlds and being the head of a Vanguard fleet, while making sure they have their customer's Coffee order correct?

I'd talk to the Organ grinders- Not the Monkeys.
