This had also happened to me, but it worked the second time. There was initially a window asking about updating the repair tool. I clicked no the first time, then yes the second. Did you get that?

You got that update window when running the repair tool? I didn´t get anything except that error messages. Well, going to try restart the PC and see what´s hap at least P

I restarted my PC after 65 days of uptime.

Didn't help.

I believe the problem is with the content server.

When you run the launcher, it attempts to grab content... since the content server is currently having it's problems (extremely slow load for some, no load for most). Several different errors are being reported, like "Offline Mode", "My Launcher Just Took a Crapper!", and so on and so forth.

The easiest way to work around this issue for now is to skip the launcher and run "ExeFile.exe" which is found in:

Program Files/EVE/bin/
-or-
Program Files (x86)/EVE/bin/
-or-
**YourSpecificFolder**/EVE/bin/

It's likely when you run this file, you will get to your login screen, but still unable to login because your EVE Client hasn't properly updated since the patch.

To resolve this, navigate directly to your "repair.exe" file and run it. The repair file can be found in your Program Files/EVE/ directory. The repair tool should detect that your version of EVE is out of date and then update. Luckily the files needed to update your game are not found on the content server. Once updated, you'll still need to bypass the EVE Launcher because the content server is the core problem, and run the ExeFile.exe from the /EVE/bin/ directory.

Unfortunately, the repair tool fails too.

From the repair exe log either:

TypeError: __init__() takes exactly 6 arguments (2 given)

or

urllib2.URLError: urlopen error timed out: 'http:client.eveonline.com/patches/repair_info.txt' (that one is slightly modified because of forums)

And yes, running eve.exe directly gives me that incompatible protocol thingie.

Oki, I got it to work now:

I ran the repair.exe as Administrator directly from the Eve folder, it first it asked me to update it which I did.
The first run of the Repair Tool failed but the second was successful. Eve Online could then be launched (again) directly via the Eve.exe from the Eve folder.

The Launcher still does not connect, though.

Hope that helps someone. The above quote certainly did help me! Blink

OpenDNS opens with the launcher reporting:

"none/en?steam_token=&server=tranquility" cannot be found."

tried running repair.. repair updated then ran for 9 minutes. launcher still does not work.. used the exefile in the bin folder..can get directly to the log in and get online.

  - remove the cloaked from local; free intel is the real problem, not  "afk" cloaking -

Evil Frankly I am stunned and quite pissed off at the idiocy that came with this new patch. I play for a couple hours a day tops on weekdays. When some knothead makes a update or patch that creates problems with said "fun time", now requiring researching the issue, finding the correct solution ...hopefully, and in general a lot of well justified irritation with CCP for putting out a patch that screws up my ability to log into my accounts. SIMPLE RULE OF THUMB WISER ADULTS USE -" IF IT ISN'T BROKE, DON'T F_CK WITH IT!"
NOW FIRE THE BROTHER IN LAW PROGRAMMER AND FIX THIS DAM LAUNCHER BEFORE I FIND A BETTER WAY TO SPEND MY TIME AND MONEY. (MY 1ST RANT SINCE I STARTED PLAYING IN 2008).

I tried to Launch Eve via the Launcher, crying and crying.
Then, just now... i discovered that if i stop to click on the desktop link,
and go to the ../CCP/EVE/ Directory and click on "Eve Online Launcher"... it works...

My repair tool doesn't even work.

I run it, the process exists, however it does nothing.

ie. no pop up like it used to do ~_~. Have reinstalled the repair tool, still nothing.

In the two years or so I'be been playing EVE I don't think the repair tool has ever worked Roll

But since the the very latest update the new login screen refuses to appear. Just like the repair tool, it creates a process then terminates straight away.

THIS WORKS!!!! TRY IT!

STEP 1: Delete everything in .../Eve/BulkData

STEP 2: Run .../Eve/repair.exe

STEP 3: Run .../Eve/eve.exe

It should work!
