Well, looking in the Launcher log file it all looks screwed and insane to me. No wonder it's broken.

Anyway, petition'd and trying the patch file... Screw the launcher, I never used it anyway

There's a patch?

It seems like 31k peeps can play and I'm stuck at the launcher, workaround isn't working either

Launcher busted (Win7 64), and when trying to launch from /bin EveExe file, the game continually tries to re-download and install evepremiumpatch538542. This seems to work, then spits me back out into the launcher, which fails to connect.

So if launcher issues cause us to be unable to get skills changed in time for the Odyssey skill reset, is that petitionable?

I got in by running repair, then bypassing launcher via /EVE/bin/exefile.exe

Repair seems to patch the client, bypassing the launcher, so you can actually patch client without getting the buggy launcher path

Same issue. I've tried the exefile and that only asked me to install the patch.

It looks like they're having some trouble with the content servers. Following the advice here:

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_Launcher_Issues_and_Workarounds#Download_stops_or_does_not_start

shows that I'm unable to connect to the content server URLs even via web browser. A packet trace shows that the SSL handshake completes (so data is getting to the servers and back), but the embedded HTTP requests get no response. This is a server-side problem.

Hopefully they'll fix it soon. In the meantime, the workaround of starting "ExeFile.exe" directly will bypass the problem. (If it doesn't you may have a different problem-- check the logs suggested in the above Wiki page.)

EDIT: This also seems relevant-- a new launcher update deployed today:

edit: Well, it was worth a shot, but still no cigar. Started eve directly, it downloaded a 6mb patch, and during the patching process I got a similar message to what the launcher gave...cannot connect to the content server or somesuch. TQ still shows "Incompatible: Protocol"

Same problem here except in my case the game keeps trying to patch itself but seems not to succeed. Have not been able to play EVE since this latest patch. Very frustrating.

Seems like I fixed it...

I cleared all cache files according to http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Clearing_the_cache_and_settings (Yes, you're entire EVE get's a reset) and I've ran repair.exe. Relaunched eve and all updates went correctly.

It's a terrible way, but the bastard will work.

I can't connect to launcher either but I can start the game. When I'm at the login screen, it says "Incompatible" under Server: Tranquility...

Stuck in Offline mode too, re-installing did nothing, even running the .exe file directly is ending up with protocol errors. GG CCP, the old launcher was just fine.

I didn't clear cache, but ran repair + launcher bypass, worked fine for me without messing up my client settings

Have you tried repair + launcher bypass? My repair tool patched my client, then I could launch the patched client without ever touching the launcher

I copied this from another post (credit goes to the guy who actually come up with the help). I had to go into my Bin folder and run the ExeFile directly from there. It simply bypasses the launcher and takes you directly into Eve. Works like a charm.

***ATTENTION*** -- TEMPORARY FIX

Repair and play.

1) C:\CCP\EVE\repair.exe

1a) If the repairer fails - re-run it until it completes.

2) C:\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe

The game should load and let you connect without issue..

DO NOT under any circumstances re-run the patcher or this will break and you will have to do it over again.

-=-=-=-

Note - This took me about 5 minutes for the repairer to run.
