So this pretty much leaves us with who on the forums? Spitfire and? As much as I messed with Fallout, I'm sad to see her and the others get laid off. Though these layoffs and the general status of CCP isn't surprising and was predicted for awhile now. The only people to blame is either the investors or the upper management. They got over confident and over ambitious. The simultaneous development of Dust and WoD was a mistake and some of us have been saying that for over a year now.

Yeah A lot of people called this outcome.

But we did not expect the community team to be on the chopping block while they talked about more communication with us.

This is the opposite of that.

So you bitched and bitched that not enough resources were being devoted to the core game. You gleefully pointed out that subscription was dropping and that their financials appeared to be in trouble. And now, they're cutting non-essential, non-code writing personnel. I hate to see them go, but it was your bullshit that pushed it over the edge. Surprise, surprise, motherf***er. And here you go with some more business advice. STFU already.

Blame the community for YEARS of misaligned resources by CCP. For a revolution that was only just happened 6 months ago.

Cool story.

What do most of us know about how he operates, short of what can be gathered from fanfest footage, devblogs, and second hand opinion? Is that enough to base such a strong opinion on? Do you think he might have any trusted managers offering him bad advice?

Web team should've been fired, anyway :p

Naturally, we have caught the attention of the world. Only a few weeks ago we revealed more information about DUST 514 and now we have done it again by committing to our core purpose as a company by redefining assumptions. After 40 hours we have already sold 52 monocles, generating more revenue than any of the other items in the store.

This we have done after months of research by a group of highly competent professionals, soliciting input and perspective from thought leaders and experts in and around our industry. We have communicated our intention here internally in very wide circles through the Virtual Economy Summit presentation at the GSM, our Fearless newsletter, sprint reviews, email lists and multiple other channels. This should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change.

How is listening to those 'thought leaders and experts' working out for you?

When you already had PLEX, you should have been satisfied with that, but no ... greed got the better of you.

So now the community team get the axe and the people that thought it was a good idea to sell $70 monocles remain. You stepped aboard the fail-train with the ill conceived implementation of the NEX store and with it the removal of what should have been additional sandbox gameplay.

I have no doubt players would have used PLEX to purchase clothing, ship painting, etc that other players had crafted, but instead you decided to go with that eyesore that is Aurum.

Nex (Cash Shop) / Aurum - removing sand from the sandbox since Incarna. Currently the only use for aurum is to buy virtual items in the in-game store, but Cockerill expects to expand its uses in the future.

I trust that the individual(s) responsible for things like the interface resetting itself upon dock/undock in the current patch are amongst the 20%? Because frankly some of the people that were let go have done more for keeping the EVE customers from completely abandoning the game when CCP were still at their worst points of idiocy.

I also trust that t20 has been let go? The one that spawned unbelievable amounts of assets to aid his alliance for years? I'm sure CCP in their infinite wisdom have finally decided that someone of such moral high standing doesn't deserve to be on their shrinking payroll and have let him go.

Honestly, CCP, I understand that from a business standpoint something had to give. But instead of taking steps towards fixing the problem while addressing that situation, you cut the very members that did not contribute to bringing EVE to where it is right now.

Shoot man. Took me 12 pages to say the same damn thing. Maybe I'm just more subtle about things.

Totally agree. even if deep down I know he will never ever be so bold as to take that step. He will try to see if he can "fix" the error and yet, try to keep introducing us to whatever half-baked deluded dream of NEX proportions he THINKS is the right choice, despite people ALL over the forums, ingame and out of game say about the poppycock ideas of his.

Welcome to the world of CEO's . It's never their fault, it was just a simple misunderstanding, blame the global recession, blame Europe and the weakened EURO, blame Greece! but not them. meh

So much rage and hatred at the absurdity of some actions! It's almost unbelievable that despite people, a throng of them ,saying NO WE DONT WANT THIS, they still thought they could get away with it.

Why? What kind of deluded self-imposed state of DENIAL has swelled into their heads?

Dostoyevsky once said: "Deprived of meaningful work, men and women lose their reason for existence; they go stark, raving mad." I believe this rings true of the "leaders". They have lost sight of what they made, and failed to see it has grown BEYOND them.

I was reading earlier someone mentioning that EVE was their baby, their creation, and I weep at this simplistic approach.

EVE might have been your child, your beloved kid project, yet it has grown, and you , YES YOU, their fathers have FAILED to nourish this spawn. You have let it go wild and then decided one day to simply start clothing it and directing it at whim, forgetting that this child of yours is yours no more but in the cold and dusty paper of imaginary and physical transient modern "ownership". Like an idea given form is no longer yours but in the basest and most dense forms., this child of yours is different now and it begets something more than what you plan to give to him.

If you want to be bold, and be true parent, you must realize that the child is a child no more. Treat it with RESPECT, which you obviously can't seem to give. You speak of the game with passion, yet actions speak way louder than words, so for every word you spout at any gathering, your actions show your true selves.

All of this reminds me of the day I was in another game and one revolutionary , died hundreds of times in front of a popular spot with an alt called "THE VISION" . He littered the corpse of this pixelated humanoid all over us and around us for hours. He made a statement, and people like me remember it, what would you guys be remembered for?

Yes you are taking steps, yes, I can somehow, deep within my twisted and tortured mind , appreciate on a certain level the token "gesture" of your apologies.

But seeing you driven to acknowledge us, the dissenting voices is just such a bittersweet ichor of ambrosiac proportions, yet we are not vindicated yet.

You must show TRUE repentance and fix the waylaid error of your ways, we demand something more and we are still expecting it.

Laying off people was such an atrocious move, that only reflects your lack of foresight at what practically EVERYBODY with enough grasping of the game could foresee, yet you all failed to sway your course, like the tyrants of yore, still asking "Why?" even as they were felled.

Open your eyes.

My only tip to CCP is that you begin buying cream, moisturizing cream. As a psychologist that worked with a lot of people and children with social disabilities, moisturizing cream is one of the tools used to let children know and understand the principles of HUMAN TOUCH. So yes CCP, buy cream, tons of it, you need it, really really need it.
